Disorganized and Organized Killers: Who is the Bigger Threat?
Many researchers have studied the fascinating yet horrifying world of serial murderers. The discoveries made since the phrase "serial killers" was coined, have amazed society. Despite all the knowledge discovered related to this topic, much more still needs to be disclosed.
One of the main points investigators have hoped to understand is how some of the perpetrators of these serial killings have integrated so well with the neighboring communities. In contrast with these “smart killers” there are those serial killers who are socially inept, who find it difficult to make friends or to communicate due to their low intelligence rate.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has categorized serial murderers in two subsets: organized and disorganized. The organized killers are viewed as the biggest threat to society because they are characterized as normal people capable of blending into the community. This attribute makes the public unable to identify them for what they truly are. On the other

Bundy found pleasure in provoking the police and teasing the media. Scientists are still hesitant of the total of victims Bundy killed, due to the fact that he never completely confessed (Salem 91). Bundy used this as an excuse to be kept alive, alleging that he would reveal more of his crimes; he even claimed to be unique and tried to convince scientists that he should be saved from death row and studied (Ramsland 120). The day after his execution a tape was released to the media showing Bundy as a remorseful man. Some believed his apparent honesty, but Ann Rule, an old friend of Bundy, believed other way: “He lied most of the times and I think he lied at the end” (Ramsland

OPINION Well, at first I thought, Ted Bundy would offer a lot of material especially forensics…then it turned out his case really offered frustration and a bite mark. Along with the lack of evidence linking Bundy to cases, there was a lack of scholarly resources to be found. I was able to find some resources, but the most prevalent one used was Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule, who was a long time friend of Bundy.…

He was convicted for DaRonch 's kidnapping and was sentences to 15 years in prison. During his hearing on June 7, 1977 at the Pitkin County Courthouse in Aspen Bundy was allowed to visit the library during recess he jumped out a second story window spraining his ankle in the process. Bundy walked away casually and stole a car. He was apprehended on June 13, 1977. Bundy escaped again this time from the Glenwood Springs, Colorado Jail on the night of December 30, 1977 he sawed through a bar on the ceiling and climbed through a crawl space over to a spot directly above the jailer 's linen closet. The jailer and his wife were out for the evening. Bundy dropped down into the jailer 's apartment, and walked out the door. The guard didn 't notice he was gone until 17 hours later by that time he was already on a plane to Chicago. Before his escape from the Glenwood Springs jail, Bundy wrote a letter it stated "I have known people who...radiate vulnerability. Their facial expressions say 'I am afraid of you. ' These people invite abuse... By expecting to be hurt, do they subtly encourage it?" In a 1980 interview, speaking of a serial killer 's justification of his actions, Bundy said "So what 's one less? What 's one less person on the face of the planet?" When Florida detectives asked Bundy to tell them where he had left Kimberly Leach 's body for her family 's solace, Bundy allegedly said, "But I 'm the…

His mother Eleanor Cowell, was twenty-two years old and was unmarried when she had her son Ted, which scandalized her deeply religious parents. She later brought Ted to her parents in Philadelphia. To hide the fact he was an illegitimate child, Bundy was raised as the adopted son of his grandparents and was told that his mother was his sister. In 1951, Eleanor later moved with Ted to Tacoma, Washington and finally became married to Johnnie Bundy. At the age of 3, Ted became fascinated by knives and other burglary tools he can find. He’s imagination was not like any ordinary child as he grew, but he’s imagination was more dreadful. In school, Bundy was a shy and bright child who did well in school but not with his peers. Paralleling this tendency, ‘Biography Editors’ points out that as a teenager, a darker side of his character started to emerge. He started to look in other people’s window and thought nothing of stealing things he wanted from others. Next, while he was a student at the University of Washington, Bundy fell in love with a wealthy and pretty young woman name Carole Anne Boone. He became married and brought a beautiful daughter in the world in October of 1982. Finally, Bundy’s horrible imagination was starting to grow bigger and bigger over the years. Even though, he attended the best school in Washington, met the love of his life, nothing didn’t stop his imagination of killing by making it a…

I decided to find documentaries on two of the most notorious serial killers Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. The first documentary I watched was “Biography: Ted Bundy: The Mind of a Killer (1995).” Ted Bundy was a boy scout, a college graduate, a law student, and a star in Washington State politics. Growing up, Ted was told that his actual grandparents were his mother and father and that his actual mother was his older sister. His grandmother (mother) had health issues such as depression and panic attacks and was eventually introduced to electro-shock therapy and his great grandfather was known to be extremely violent and frightening. His family began noticing at the age of three that Ted wasn’t adjusting well. His first incident happened when he was being babysat by his aunt and she was taking a nap. Ted’s aunt woke up to him placing all the kitchen knives around her body in an outline with the blades pointing towards her. After the incident with his aunt and fighting with his step-father a lot, Ted was forced to move to Tacoma, WA and it devastated him because he thought of his great grandfather as a father and he didn’t want to leave him. Once in Tacoma, Ted’s peers thought of him as a shy person. He stuttered a lot and didn’t date. He really isolated himself from the crowd and started becoming a peeping Tom. Ted started to consider himself above the law. While in college, Ted met a girl named Stephanie and was particularly attracted to her…

The FBI classifies serial killers into two groups. The first group is an “organized” killer. An organized/ Nonsocial serial killers are usually very intelligent. These killers usually pre-meditate their crimes for a long time, also most likely choose and stalk their victims before abducting their victims. They also abduct their victims by playing victim. For example the well know serial killer Ted Bundy, used a fake cast on his arm, to attract his victims to help him carry his objects to his car. Organized killers aim for victims that will voluntary go with them at first, for example runaway teens and prostitutes. This category of criminals also have knowledge of forensic science, which is convenient for the when trying to cover up their tracks. Also they follow their crimes on the media, like watching his crimes on TV and cutting up newspaper clipping. They do this because it’s some type of trophy for all of their “hard work”.…
