I chose to do my research report over “Teens, Technology and Romantic Relationships” by Amanda Lenhart, Monica Anderson and Aaron Smith. The main idea or idea of this report is that social media plays a role in teens romantic relationships. It could be anything from dating, breaking up or flirting. Only 8% of teens have met their romantic partner online, but 50% of teens ages 13-17 have flirted or told someone through a form of social media that they romantically interested in them. I find this to show that technology is something that teens are using more and more not only in their everyday lives, but in their relationships as well. I find this true about myself as well. I would say I use a majority or my social media to talk to friends and family or to share what’s going in my life, but I also use it to find new friends or partners. Although technology is used to find a partner, it can also be used to breakup with a partner and may cause harm to the other significant other. …show more content…
Which I find as a negative with teens using social media as a way to find a partner. It is considered socially unacceptable to send them a message on social media to break up with a partner. The biggest thing I took away from this section of the article was that good things can come from online relationships such as dating or flirting, but the break ups using the online social media can cause bigger problems.
