Abstract

Almost all of the students especially high school students are seen of using different kinds of electronic gadgets everyday. Like cellphone, iPad, psp, etc. With that case, students who are addicted in using electronic gadgets affects their studies. As what I have observed, using of electronic gadgets gives bad effects to almost all of the students. The purpose of doing this study is to *Explain the disadvantages of using electronic gadgets among us students *Determine the positive and negative effects of Electronic gadget to students *Show the consequences of excessive use of Electronic gadgets to students *Give the students an advice on how to control their use of electronic gadget. To accomplish this study, I researched for some information that can help me to prove the content of my study. And to be able to solve this problem, I researched for some solutions that can help me to solve this kind of situation, which may also help me to show the goal of my study to my co-students who are addicted in using electronic gadgets. In that way, I can help to prevent the addiction of every student from electronic gadgets.

Traditions like learning from the outside world around you by exploring it instead of digitally exploring the internet. Today teachers are attempting to turn technology into learning devices but much like Postman’s “rear-view mirror thinking”, the iPad and related devices are used for entertainment.     Teachers must have a plan to limit off-task use of handheld devices while increasing student interest in using the devices as educational tools. In order to do this, teachers will need to explain and enforce consequences when the rules for using handheld devices are broken. Juli Di Chiro, a superintendent in Oregon, commented on misuses of technology in a recent article for the Ashland Daily Tidings. Di Chiro noted that “technology isn’t the root of the problem.” She then said, “It’s like any other misbehavior and we have to make sure if that does happen, that it’s a learning opportunity for our kids, so they understand that if they do those things that it’s not appropriate and we’ll need to redirect them” (Guzik 2). Di Chiro realizes that students regularly misbehave; they aren’t misbehaving simply because they have technology at their disposal. The real problem is the students’ attitude toward learning. When students do misbehave, restricting them from using technology for a short while will be advantageous as it will take away something that can enjoyably be used to learn. When students see that if used properly the handheld devices allow them an entertaining mode of learning, they should be less likely to misuse the devices in the future.…

    Technology in today’s classrooms can take away valuable learning time, the over use of technology, and it can also turn educational experiences into games for students (Para 1). According to Jake Willard, an established English teacher at West Mount Secondary School, “Teenagers now are far more obsessed with technology- they cannot be without their cell phone or iPod” (Willard). This topic was chosen because from personal experience, students appear to be more disruptive and unfocused in the classroom. Locating a main source may be helpful in the future to improving the learning environment for the majority of teenagers today. The growth and development of technology today has been beneficial to society. Overview of Subject Matter From personal experiences in and around the classroom, technology has grown over the years and spread to the point where it needs to be controlled. In the past, technology was not as big of a distraction to other students due to many reasons such as its portability. Today’s cameras, cell phones, mp3 players, and other portable media devices are compact and easy to carry. Some of these devices can have all the features built in one, which allows students to bring these electronics to school. Teens are able to send text messages, listen to music, or play games in the palm of their hand and causes students to be distracted from school work.
