Teamwork Ensures Community Success
If you are in an activity that requires teamwork, then you must be prepared to make personal sacrifices to ensure its success. Not only is this true with team sports, but also in real life events. Even the smallest communities in the insect world require teamwork for their success.
For example, the success of my lacrosse team requires that each member makes the team a priority over their personal needs. My lacrosse coach said that we must totally commit our personal time to practice six days a week, as well as playing our games at night. As an individual player it is not an easy task for me to make this personal sacrifice, but I have a commitment not only to my team but also to my individual teammates. When we do this as a whole team, it is easier for each of us to overcome the challenges of sacrificing our personal interests.
Another example is taken from many real life events. Policemen and firemen must work in teams to cope with emergency situations. Perhaps the World Trade Center disaster illustrates the most extreme situation requiring the ultimate sacrifice of lives. Without the teamwork and personal sacrifices of these individuals, many more people would have perished.
The smallest, yet equally complex, communities are found in the insect world. Bees, ants, and termites are unique in the sense that they must work together as communities to ensure their success. Each of these different communities require the cooperation of workers, foragers, soldiers, and a queen to ensure their collective success.
All of these examples should demonstrate that if we are going to exist as a community, we must work together to ensure its success. Without it, civilization would not
