“In a technology-rich classroom, students don 't "learn" technology. Technology merely provides the tools to be used for authentic learning. It is a means, not an end” (Schrum, n.d.). For an effective and efficient classroom, teachers should include technology that meets the ISTE standards while teaching to meet the CCSS standards. When developing this unit lesson plan about the five senses and any future lesson plans, I hope to always remember that the most effective teachers utilize technology as a tool. Technology should be useful and helpful in helping students do something they may not have been able to…

Active Listening Skills is the first article I read. This article was very helpful since it provided me with information on how to help clients improve the quality of their life. It is crucial for a client to know that the interviewer is really listening because the client will open up faster since the client will feel appreciated and respected. The article explains how important it is to listen in order to catch the client’s attention and for the client to respond positively and rapidly and on a deeper level. I learned by reading the article that there are different ways of listening. I have learned that the interviewer should have active participation which means facing the client at all times and maintaining eye contact during the interview/session, to always focus on what the client is saying, and for the interviewer to respond properly showing interest on what the client said.…

When we want to stimulate the child’s senses we start them with the sensory tables. Each table consists of a tub that stimulates a different sense. When you stimulate the senses you help to stimulate the child cognitively, and emotionally as well. This can be achieved through science experiments such as the one we did over the holiday with a pumpkin and what does it smell like and feel like on the first day what about before it is carved vs after it is carved. We do this with all the kids from ages 3 to school age.…

From the video I observed students being able to define vocabulary associated with sound showing that they had some prior knowledge on the topic. I also observed students who were actively participating in all aspects of the lesson with very few distractions. When students found another students sound vibration funny they only giggles for a few seconds then continued to listen and participate in the sound lesson. From this observation I can conclude that students knew the teachers classroom expectations and rules.…

Sensory systems are important to us; they let us perceive the environment. The senses can be broadly divided in to the sense of touch, smell, taste, vision and hearing. The seemingly simple perception is in fact not as simple as it sounds there is a lot of chemistry and physics that takes place. When we touch a hot surface, smell that delicious food, see beautiful colors, or hearing that beautiful music, our nervous system is working at an incredible rate, to make sense of these signals and let us enjoy them or run away from them.…

Learning has been going on since the beginning of human kind and is still going on in today’s world. While in the beginning they did not study how they learned they still accomplished many things. Now we study how we learn so that we can hopefully learn more efficiently to accomplish things beyond our wildest dreams. Today I took to learning style quizzes in hopes of learning more about my personal learning styles so that I may improve myself. Today in this essay we will explore learning styles that equate with a preferred bodily sense through which one receives information. The three that are the most popular and explored are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.…
