In the past a thousand weeks, I feel like I have accomplished a great deal. As the quarter ends, I find myself reflecting not only how I have survived my fifth quarter but also what I have learned. The most important thing I have learned so far is how to become a better writer. I did not think it could really happen to me. I did not think I could handle all the work. I did not think I could actually become a better writer. Somehow, after all the hours of writing, and putting effort into my papers that I wrote in this quarter, I became a better writer. I did this because I concentrated on two very important areas. With help from an awesome teacher and my partner, I have become a better writer by improving my skills in the areas of procrastination and content.…

Bennett. Mrs. Bennett urged the class to go above and beyond and to please Mrs. Bennett was a thing that only happened once in a lifetime. After having her proofread an essay she had assigned, she commended me for my topic, word choice, and use of grammar. “Promise me you’ll write after school,” she had told me. Once those words were uttered out of her mouth my smile would not falter. I began imagining myself as the next Truman Capote and Hunter S. Thompson in a new city writing for a big newspaper. I knew at that time that I did not wish to pursue a career in journalism or writing, but I did believe I had just done the impossible, obtain a compliment from Mrs. Bennett. Besides Mrs. Bennett, I do not believe anyone else has inspired me to write. However, I do have memory of fond assignments given to me in the past, for example: an argumentative essay backed by facts, an analysis of the Communist Manifesto, and a current events essay. In my free time, I enjoy reading and doing an in-depth dissection of books to hopefully understand the thinking of others…

This work ethic that I have achieved over many years of practice, applied greatly for my American Studies class this past year; I would not of been able to evolve into a more profound writer that will continue to help me excel in the writing works that I will continue to do the rest of my life. I am going to write about outstanding teacher I met long time ago. At that time, I was in 8th grade, and then I transferred to new school. That school was high school, so there was full of newly enrolled students. I never forget first day of my school. Our new English teacher entered in classroom and gave us copies of a passage. I almost did not understand the meaning of it. When I was trying to understand the first sentence of that passage, half of students in that class said that they were ready to give a speech about the whole passage. I thought that I was pretty good at English in my previous school, but this incident proved that I only had knowledge of elementary English.…

The first reasons that made this class interesting were the unbearable challenges. From the very first day, Gina made everyone in class get into a circle and talk about ourselves. This was a challenge for me. I do not like talking about myself because I become nervous and don’t know what to say. Later on, she would say if we don’t do well on both tests, she’ll drop anyone who fails. Consequently, I had to wake up early in the morning just to study which never done before. She also made us communicate with each other as a group; however, this wasn’t haft-bad because I made some new friends in class. The essay…

It inspired me to be more creative and original in my work and fostered my growth as a writer. I’m glad that I took that class since before I took it English classes always discouraged me. Despite the fact I have always enjoyed writing on my own; I never enjoyed it at school and other classes made me feel as though I wasn’t very adept at writing. However the class I took in eighth grade renewed my confidence and inspiration and I consider that class to be the best experience I’ve had in any English class so…
