Taylor Swift: Teenage Era Of Pop Music
Taylor Swift is a very popular solo singer. She is well known in the teenage era of pop music. Taylor used to sing country music when she first started, but she eventually got into more pop as she got older. Taylor is also known for writing her own music, which she has been doing for over eleven years. Swift broke out into the music world at the age of sixteen when she wrote a song about Tim McGraw. Taylor’s grandmother who was an opera singer, was an early influence. However, she soon discovered the music of Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and LeAnn Rimes. This was the path that she wanted to follow starting out.

Taylor has been nominated for nineteen different Grammy Awards, and has won 10 of them. They were for: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album,Best Music Video, Best Song Written for Visual Media, Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance, Best Country Album, and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. In 2010 she won four, in 2012 she won two, in 2013 she won one, and in 2016 she won three. Taylor has toured many times throughout this past decade. Coming up this December, she is kicking off a small U.S. holiday tour. This will include California, Illinois, and New York.

I’m able to identify many of her songs, just buy listening to the first few measures. In fact, that’s how I came upon finding some of Taylor’s songs. I think that she has really grown as a singer throughout the past few years. I started listening to her music because her voice stands out to me and I now have many favorite songs from her. I feel that my personal connection with Taylor Swift is that we both have a great passion for music and singing. I highly recommend that you listen to more songs from Taylor Swift. I strongly believe that you would regret it if you didn’t hear one of her

When watching the video clip “Rhetorical Analysis of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space” I never realized how much thinking and creativity went into writing a song or making a music video. I often times just takes things for face value, so never thought there could be a double meaning behind her video or story. There are many paradox’s in her song that I would have never even thought about before watching this video clip. One thing that stood out to me was when taylor wrote “I can make the bad guys good for a weekend.” The line is appealing, she’s saying that she can control someone and get them to do what she wants them to do. She is trying to portray this fictional character and show her to be a little crazy because that is how the media portrays…

I watched Taylor Swift acoustic performances from the RED album. The first song presented in the performance was “We are never ever getting back together”. This popular song features a variety of musical techniques. During the song Taylor Swift begins playing the song at a consistent speed. Later in the song at 2:04 she changes her to a faster tempo and at 2:29 returns to her original tempo. The faster tempo makes the song feel climatic, I feel that she is able to highlight certain lyrics or parts of the song she wants to stand out. I like the songs use of a consonant harmony as it creates a song that is very enjoyable and easy to listen to. While her song remains relatively at the same volume throughout the song she noticeably quites in the…

The first time I ever heard one Jessie J’s songs was Who You Are when I was in the 9th grade. This song helped and encouraged me at a young age where so many changes are happening to be true to who you are. That same year one of my friends tried to change herself to fit in with a group of girls that didn’t like her. She allowed them to talk about her and make fun of her to her face just to be a part of the group. And from that moment on, I knew I never wanted to change who I am just to fit in with others or to forget my identity.…

The Center's collection documents the diversity of American music. We take as our starting point the European and African origins of American culture, selecting items which document the music of our national vernacular culture. From the 18th to early 20th century music was disseminated largely in printed form: sheet music, songsters, broadsides, instrumental instruction books and song anthologies. After 1920 recorded sound gained dominance. The Center's collection reflects this change in the commodification of music.…

Taylor Swifts music has a lot of meaning to it, mostly about how it was for her growing up. But this particular song is about a boy, and how he’s so into this other girl “She doesn’t even know you, She’s never going to love you” that he doesn’t even know what’s right in front of his face “And you just see right through me”. What she’s trying to say is that she loves him and he doesn’t even acknowledge it, and that they would be perfect together “We could be a beautiful miracle”. But instead she feels invisible to him, hence the name of the song.…
