Chapter Sumamries
Chapter 1:
Australia after the last days is brutal, lawless world where only the most ruthless survive. Ben is a teenage boy who has the ability to communicate with animals using the call. He is also a prisoner of Greg, an older boy who forces Ben to use his talent to lure animals, which Greg then kills for food. Ben dreams of a different life and the peace of his childhood home on the southern beaches of Sydney. He escapes from Greg one rainy might, in search of this dream.

Chapter 2:
Despite Ben’s promise that he will never use the Call again after he has left Greg, he makes a call to warn away a horse and rider. The horse panics and slips, breaking its leg, and Ben is guiltily forced to kill it before fleeing from the terrified rider. He continues on his path to Sydney, he hears a distant sound from a mysterious and fearless creature, which urges him on.

Chapter 3:
On his journey, Ben discovers a burnt out house. Looters have killed the occupants, but Ben finds a small cattle dog and supplies in a hidden cellar. With supplies and a bicycle he has found, Ben continues on, this time accompanied by a dog.

Chapter 4:
Ben begins to grow fond of the Kelpie, but refuses to give it a name. The dog is injured as it protects him from the attackers who lurk along the road to Sydney.

Chapter 5:
Ben is fascinated by the distant cry that he imagines might lead him to a sanctuary in the city, but when Ben reaches the Sydney Harbour Bridge a gang attacks. Ben manages to escape by leaving the dog behind as a distraction. He takes refuge near Taronga Zoo but is haunted by the betrayal of his friend.

Chapter 6:
Ben is recaptured by the gang, which is run by a horribly scarred man named Chas. They force Ben to break through the perimeter fence of Taronga Zoo and act as a decoy.

Chapter 7:
Inside Taronga, Ben realises he is hunted by tigers. He uses the call to keep the tigers at a distance, until Ellie arrives to call them off. Ellie brings ben back to

    With one tent done for both Sarah and Jessica for some of the alone time most teen couples want, Jessica and Susan goes to get more wood for the fire. Sarah soon hears the two scream and starts to run into the woods to find them.. Sarah soon becomes panicked and full of worry as she runs as fast as she can. As she trips over a root of a nearby tree, she hears her name being screamed to her, as it is her friend Susan being drug deeper into the heart of the forest. She gets up to chase after her friend, running then stopping in a clearing just a short distance away, but she is not alone in the clearing, for she sees two figures. Sarah is puzzled as to what the figures are, but she is then frozen in awe. As she gasps, she is noticed by the beast, it’s pale skin reflecting the moonlight, its mouth and claws covered in crimson. Sarah screams and runs back to the campsite, with the wendigo right behind her. The beast then grabs her leg, but she kicks it off of her, running farther ahead.
