Problema Aplicado 1:
Suponga que usted es el gerente de una fábrica de vino en California. ¿Cómo esperaría que los siguientes eventos afecten el precio que usted recibe por una botella de vino?

a) Disminuye el precio de una botella de vino francés de similar calidad.
Al ser un producto sustituto, el precio disminuirá, se podrá reducir el consumo del vino en California y se reemplazaría por el consumo del vino Frances.

b) Abren cien nuevas fábricas de vino en California.
Debido a que aumentan la producción de vino por las cien nuevas fabricas, se generara un mayor oferta en le mercado en relación a la demanda del mercado, lo que provocaría una reducción en los precios del vino por las cantidades en exceso producidas. Aunque aumentaría el número de consumidores de vino por el exceso de oferta el precio disminuiría.

c) Disminuye la tasa de desempleo en Estados Unidos.
Teniendo en cuenta que esta variable incide en le nivel de ingresos, debido a que hay mas personas empleadas, esto permitirá que aumente la demanda de bienes y servicios y los precios del mercado puedan aumentarse.

d) Aumenta el precio del queso.
No afectaría el precio del vino ya que es un bien relacionado y un cambio en el precio del queso no causara una disminución en la demanda del vino.

e) Aumenta significativamente el precio de las botellas de vidrio debido a una nueva norma regulatoria del vidrio emitida por el gobierno.

Debido a que la botella es un insumo en la producción del vino, un aumento en el precio de las botellas causara un incremento en el precio del vino.

f) Investigadores descubren una nueva tecnología para hacer vino que reduce los costos de producción.

Un aumento en el nivel tecnológico hará que la producción del vino sea mas eficiente lo que permitirá que se reduzcan los costos de producción y que el precio del vino disminuya.

g) Aumenta el precio del vinagre de vino, el cual se hace de los residuos de las uvas machacadas.
