Synagogue Observation Report
On October 31, 2015, I attended serves at a synagogue in Tucson, Az. The synagogue was not all that special, not like churches with the tall bell towers and huge cathedral area. The synagogue was small, with one set of windows on the other side cross from the entrance and the chairs were in a circle around the alter. For the service the men have to were head coverings, but the head covering were different colors, I do wonder if the color has and meaning to the person who’s wearing the covering. I wish I had gone to a popular service so I could have seen more interactions with people of different ages. I know that in a church service you can’t go up for communion unless you have make you first communion, I wonder does that apply to a synagogue

This paper focuses on the observations when placed in a location that is unknown to me culturally, nationally, and socially. The purpose of my observation is to better understand my class partner, Mike Pietrusinski, and how this aspect of his life reflects in his persona as well as being able to experience something out of my comfort zone. The location Mike chose to take me was the Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and the date was March 21, 2017.…

My site visit took place on the first of February 2013 I had the privilege of attending the candle lighting ceremony of the Judaism religion. To bring in the day called Shabbat ( a sacred day to the Jewish community) at the Chabad Center of Kendall and Pincrest they lit candles, sang songs, and recited words from the Torah that reminded them of the historical story of Shabbat. The Shabbat is the equivalence to the Christian tradition of the Sabbath, where the religious community stops to rest and ponder on the holy one. This establishment is a well-respected and reputable Chabad Lubavitch branch of the Jewish religion. The synagogue, or as they would prefer to call it, a community center, is not only a holy place to worship and rejoice in the lord, but also an educational center that offers a great variety of services and ceremonies for the entire community both Jewish and non-Jewish. It is located in the Kendall area on 87th avenue and 112th street a residential and tranquil area.…

In my exploration of different populations in the social work field, I interned at San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) in order to learn more about the population diagnosed with developmental disabilities. I received insight into the dynamics of caring for people with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other conditions of the like and learned about the various ways such a population is disenfranchised and taken advantage of outside organizations that cater specifically to them.…

The Crown Court was created by Courts Act 1971. The Crown Court of England and Wales is one of the constituent parts of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. It is the higher court of first instance in criminal cases. However, for some purposes the crown court is hierarchically subordinate to the High Court and its divisional Courts. The Crown Court also hears appeals against conviction and sentence from those convicted in the magistrates court. Appeals are usually heard by a circuit judge and two magistrates. The Crown Court also sentences defendants who have been committed for sentencing by magistrates, after having been summarily convicted of an either-way offence.…

The museum that I visited was the Holocaust Museum in Maitland, FL. The Holocaust Museum in Maitland was the first Holocaust Museums in the United States. This was my first time visiting the museum. I was nervous in the beginning about visiting the Holocaust Museum for I did not know what to expect so I invited a friend to go with me. When I open the door of the museum there was a lady with a smile on her face to welcome us. She hands us a few pamphlets and explained the rooms that are available to view. I thought it was going to be in a bigger building, but the museum was fairly small. There was basically one room that contained several different themed stations (introduction, threatening Jews, wars, death camps,…

I attended an Atlanta Mar Thoma Indian Church service and a social fellowship honoring Senior citizens. The church service started at 10 am. When I arrived to the parking lot, I introduced myself to a young lady by the same of Sarah who was cordial enough to answer all of my questions concerning the service and invited me to the fellowship later. The service lasted for 3 hours. I noticed their central theme throughout the service was unity and harmony. They also followed a central pattern of call and response. The preacher would make a statement and the congregation would respond by reading the appropriate response on overhead screen. A lot of the recitations included asking God for forgiveness for their sins. They also had prayer and communion.…

I was invited to come to my co=worker church to experience there culture opposed to my church. I walked into Trinity Church Sunday afternoon, I documented immediately that the church 's name was not accidentally chosen, it was something, or someone within their faith. The name of the church was on many statues within the church. Songs of prayer is how the service starts, which is much different from my church. Most of the songs did not remind me of the songs we harmonized at my church. Within my church we commence the worship with a candle lighting and a reading from the Bible. As the worshippers sang I looked around and seen that the majority of the people where white, which was very different from my church, our church has White, Hispanic, and African American.…

What caught my interest in the setting is, it reminded me of a small white church my mother took us to when I was a child. It was an old country church on a dirt road. I remember as a child seeing women like “grandma” in our church. The only difference was our old black ladies never got escorted out into the cold. In our country church all were children of God. We did however have a few women like the “Leather bagged and shoed, with good calfskin gloves to keep out the cold” that perhaps looked as us the same way they looked at Grandma. I remember the look well, and we were white. This look should never be seem in the house of God, no matter the color of one’s skin.…
