Frank, who is the oldest brother, suffers from major depression disorder and has even contemplated and tried to commit suicide. With his brother suffering from suicidal ideation, and the persistent symptoms that Dwayne exhibits, I believe the best diagnosis for Dwayne would be Persistent Depressive Disorder, also known as Dysthymia. To treat Dwayne’s Persistent Depressive Disorder, I would prescribe him with a class antidepressants, specifically tricyclics. Furthermore, I would provide Dwayne with Behavioral Activation Therapy or Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I believe either of these two therapies would be sufficient enough to suppress Dwayne’s Persistent Depressive Disorder. One of Dwayne’s major symptoms was social withdrawal, and both of these therapies would serve as suppressants to his depression and would allow Dwayne to strengthen his communication and social skills. Thus, leaving Dwayne feeling more of a sense of belonging, which will subsequently lead to the lowering of his sadness and feeling of emptiness. The abnormal behavior exhibited by Dwayne adds drama to the plot a there are numerous scenes where Dwayne’s depressive disorder is slightly exhibited. Moreover, his

After Babette admits to sleeping with Willie Mink for Dylar, he becomes obsessive and unable to fully control himself, finding release in nearly killing Mink. Fear never leaves Jack’s narrative, but it fluctuates after Jack is infected by the airborne toxic event, despite the uncertainty of an effect. Dylar is Jack’s hope to escape death, much like the self he projects covers his true self, because death is the one fact of life no one evades. Sadly, Dylar only worsens one’s grasp on reality, as shown in Mink’s insensible trance at his roach motel. Leading to a decline of sanity, Jack has two personal identities, a professor and an alternative. As a professor, Jack looks to reach Hitler’s public persona’s size and stature; he tries to be mysterious, stern, and exceptionally intelligent to account for his inadequate core self, but none of those traits are accurate depictions of his self. Outside of work, he tries to exude an air of knowledge and understanding for his family’s sake, and he assures himself this perception is truthful. Both personas originate from Jack’s…

Girl Interrupted (1999) is a film depicting a youthful female in the 1960s battling with the instability of her own emotional sickness (Mangold, (n.d.)). With the influence of her parents, Susanna Kayson concedes herself into a psychiatric and is later determined to have Borderline Personality Disorder. Her fight demonstrates that those agonies from a psychiatric disorder may not generally meet the cliché picture depicted by the overall population. Other characters in this film did a fabulous depiction of symptoms of sicknesses, for example, an extreme dietary issue, grandiose fantasies, sociopathic propensities, and bipolar disorder. However, the actual diagnoses are unclear. The film demonstrated the individual disappointment and perplexity required in understanding one's disorder in a period when society needed much knowledge into a psychiatric disorder. This paper goes for examining the character's diagnosis regarding the DSM-IV, discussing about the obvious etiology of the…
