Organizational Behavior

Class Duration : Two hundred minutes per week for 14 weeks

Subject Overview:
This course emphasizes the importance of people and the relevance of their behavior, both individual and group, in managing job satisfaction and effective organizations. Since organizational process, structure and design affect human behavior within organization, the course will also discuss these three variables in addition to organizational change. The course begins with a focus on the foundations of individual behavior and their related variables such as perception, values and attitude and motivation, followed by group behavior. Part three of this course will discuss organizational systems including organizational structure, process and culture. Finally, discussion on organizational dynamics – change and development will end up this course.

Subject Objectives:

At the end of the term, students will have been able to 1. Discuss the role of people within organization 2. Explain factors affecting individual and group behavior 3. Explain how human behavior determines job satisfaction and effective organization 4. Explain the implications of organizational systems to human behavior at work 5. Discuss organizational change – process and structural changes and their impact to behavior

Assessment:

Student will be assessed based on the composite evaluation criteria as follow:
1. Class Participation, quizzes 20%
2. Case report and presentation 20%
3. Individual paper 20%
4. Mid term exam 20%
5. Final Exam 20% ------ 100%
