The sample business plan that I have chosen for a SWOT analysis is clothing retail. I chose this plan because it is something that I want to start of my own one day and it would be good for me to understand more about a plan for one. The best way to go about this is to perform a SWOT analysis over the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the company.…

The SWOT analysis is used to describe the Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that face a corporation. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the particular competencies that the corporation has as well as to identify the opportunities that they are facing but unable to take advantage of due to the lack of the necessary resources. This analysis allows managers to decide if they should invest their resources to better their strengths or on their “weaknesses to at least make them competitive” (Hunger & Wheelen, 2002, p. 109).…

When conducting strategic planning for any company - online and/or offline - it is useful to complete an analysis that takes into account not only your own business, but your competitor's activities and current industry happenings as well. A SWOT analysis is one such analysis. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Completing a SWOT analysis helps you identify ways to minimize the affect of weaknesses in your business while maximizing your strengths. Ideally, you will match your strengths against market opportunities that result from voids in your competitors' products and/or services. Traditionally, a SWOT confines strengths and weaknesses to your company's internal workings while opportunities and threats refer only to the external environment. Here, I suggest a twist to the "text book" approach. To get a better look at the big picture, consider both internal *and* external forces when uncovering opportunities and threats.…

When a company wants to identify factors that have the potential to affect the company’s future, a SWOT analysis is conducted. This analysis will identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that either help the business or could potentially harm the business.
