SWOT Analysis of Riccardis Restaurant
Riccardi’s is a family style Italian restaurant that opened in 1973 with their location in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Since then they have managed to maintain a good relationship with their customers as they offer quality food at unbelievable prices. They pride themselves on the authenticity of their food as it is cooked “The Sicilian way”, and the owners/management are always involved with the day to day operations. Their menu items are very fairly priced in comparison to their local competitors. They work had to deliver the best Italian cuisine where little touches are important. Riccardi’s offers in house dining service as well as a beautiful take out area. Their entire menu is offered online and is also available for carry out. Riccardi’s also offers catering services and party pick up services. They are the area's largest off-premise, full service caterer with 32 years of experience. Their professional staff will deliver and serve a complete buffet dinner for large functions. After much success with their New Bedford location, Riccardi’s owners Jean and Mike Riccardi made the decision to open a second location in Fairhaven. Since then, both locations have been incredibly successful, and have even been voted South Coast’s “Best Italian Restaurant” and “Best Pizza” since 2003.
Company Description
Where we are
Riccardi’s is currently one of the top Italian restaurants in the South Coast area. They are hugely successful in both their New Bedford and Fairhaven locations. However, they are missing out on a huge market by not offering a delivery service for people who want to enjoy the authentic food in the comfort of their own home.
Where we want to be
We want Riccardi’s to be the first name that pops into consumers heads when Italian food is what they want. Riccardi’s should be the brand that everyone in the South Coast area associates with

I had the pleasure of dining at Pizzeria Luca for the first time on February 19, 2017 for lunch. Although this small business has been operating in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 8 years, I had no idea it existed till now. Luca had a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The lighting was a little too dark for lunch time, but had a nice quiet setting. When you walk in, you can see…

We were invited to an Italian restaurant, by some friends to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The Sweet Basil is located in the more upscale part of town. So my expectations were high. Of course we had three criteria’s to meet, although most likely normal for most people. First food choices – quality and quantity (I have a big appetite). Second would be service – how fast we get a table, how well the waitress tends to our needs. Third would be the total cost per couple could not exceed $40 per couple. Very few expectations were met, let alone exceeded. Considering The Sweet Basil is trying to bill itself as a high end restaurant.…

After visiting these five restaurants I found that in general the service was satisfactory, although some restaurants were providing higher quality service than others. For example, Q-doba’s and Giovanni’s operations were focused primarily on speed of service rather than customer experience. While Wild Ginger and Backyards Bistro were focused on delivering an overall dining experience which included not only good food but a certain ambiance with waiters to take your order and a hostess to seat you; this was much different from the assembly line speed with which Giovanni’s or Q-doba’s operate. Mr. Wraps, adheres to neither of these operational approaches it is primarily a take-out place with a sporty ambiance and quick service. Observing each of these restaurants it became clear that speedy service and a good product were not the only important qualities to satisfying a customer. In general it was important to the customer, me, that the employee be personable, genuinely interested in making my experience a…

When I think about the customer behavioral analysis for Di Rienzo’s and what drives his consumers to go to his deli rather going to his competitors, I think about what they have to offer. They offer great customer experience like no other. This is a very big factor for when people are choosing where to shop. They offer very good products that you can not find anywhere else at great competitive prices. Their service is something else that keeps people coming back because they do a lot more for their customers that most other delis do not.…

"It comes from an old term from the strategic planning field," says Fred Wiersema, co-author of The Discipline of Market Leaders. Marketing gurus have taken familiar terms from old "situation analysis" principles -- like core competencies (your company 's main business), liabilities (weak points that need improvement), customers and competitors -- and simply given them a catchy new acronym, according to Wiersema.…

Isabel Eckstein strode toward her office, inhaling the aroma from the test kitchen where the product development team was trying new recipes for TruEarth, maker of gourmet pastas, sauces, and meals. Her team had been working hard for the past year on a fresh whole grain pizza. The final market research results had arrived, and it was time to make a decision on launching the product. In 2006, Eckstein, a brand manager, had led the introduction of Cucina Fresca, a fresh whole grain pasta meal kit sold through supermarkets. By the end of 2007, sales had reached $23 million, making it the most successful product launch in company history. However, growth had slowed in 2008 as competitors began offering similar products. Sustaining a competitive edge in the fresh Italian food category required continual innovation and, as a result, TruEarth had invested heavily in its pizza offering. Eckstein observed: We were aggressive in launching Cucina Fresca. We made a significant investment in new manufacturing equipment and the distribution infrastructure required to get fresh food to shelves quickly. Being a small company competing against Nestle and Kraft is not easy, but we do not make rash decisions. The success of Cucina Fresca was a calculated risk based on significant research. We think we can achieve similar success with pizza, but we will need to take a hard look at the numbers.…

Each time I return home after a stint of travel to other countries I always head out to one of my favorite restaurants, Boston Pizza. Boston Pizza has been around since the 1960’s and started out as a small one store location but has grown into one of western Canada’s most popular restaurants with over 150 locations in Canada with a few locations also spread out in the USA. There are many choices that can compare in some aspect to the feeling I get when I go to a Boston Pizza but the combination of cleanliness of the restaurant, a variety of choices on the menu and the service that makes me feel at home each time I walk through the door, Boston Pizza is always my first choice when I decide to go out for a bite to eat.…
