My father: the person I admire most. In the span of my life, I have had several people who have influenced various parts of my life, based on their accomplishments, and mostly their characteristics. I have been privileged to have various teachers who I respect for the patience and intellectual ability. There have been numerous artists and writers who have inspired me by their natural talent and abilities. I value many athletes, who have inspired me by their contributions to their community and by showing me how much of an impact they can truly have on this planet. Of all the people that I have come across in my life, the person that I admire most is my father. As the youngest boy in my family, I considered myself to be the “Spoiled one”. While growing up it always made me sad to see my close friends and even the people on the TV without a father or even a father-like figure around. Seeing this made me appreciate how much of an impact my father has made on his children’s lives. To this day, he continues to profess how proud he is of me and my siblings, and that he will always be there to support us in whatever we choose to get involved in. In every aspect of my life, my father pushes me to excel as much as I possibly can. Whenever I feel like giving up on my dreams and goals, or if I have a question or concern, I know that I can always call on my father for advice. My father is a very loving man and I have learned from him that sometimes you have to put others needs before your own, but not to the point where you completely give up on your own needs. Many people may say that the higher education that you have, the smarter you are but another one of my countless reasons I admire my father the most is because of his intellectual ability. My father doesn’t have the biggest and best educational background, but in my personal account, he is far more knowledgeable than a person with a higher education. He has a huge knowledge about other cultures around the world.

“Everything I have done in my life has been to provide for my children.” That’s what you’ll hear my dad say if you ask him about anything he’s accomplished in his life. He is a very proud and hardworking man. Even now, at 60 years old, he works harder than most 20-year-olds do. As a father he has always told us, “Nothing is handed to you; everything you have must be earned.”…

Growing up in a small family, I witnessed the way my father took an active role in his family. He was the bread-winner of his family, yet he never neglected us. He is a loving father. He cares a lot about his daughters. My dad will do anything for his children. Since I could remember to this present moment, he was always been someone whom I can count on to help me in my time of need. He taught me how to be a better person by respecting myself, respecting others, and being a woman on integrity. He has been a good example for me by instilling strong family bonds; because of him I turn out to be a great mom to my children and a good wife to my husband.…

The stimuli for my devised piece is ‘Machinal’ written by American playwright and journalist Sophie Treadwell and premiered on Broadway in 1928. Treadwell wrote the play based on the true events that unravelled around New Yorker Ruth Snyder who killed her husband in her unhappy marriage and was executed by electric chair; Ruth was the first woman to be executed by electric chair since 1899 which provoked the significance of her story. Treadwell explores the themes of isolation, oppression and female objectification all of which I took on board and intend to include in my devised piece.…

A father’s advice is something that can’t be bought only taught to the youth through experience. I would always get upbraided for wanting to sit around the house and wait for something to come my way instead of working for it. My father would always kick me and brothers out of the house for the day during the summer, this was to get us to go do something with our friends and to get fresh air. I was starting to get the reasons behind his actions, he was attempting to get us to see that there is more to life than sitting inside playing video games and watching tv. Everyday I would be the first one out of the house to play basketball with my friends and to see what life had in stored for me. My father is what helped me get my head straight and assisted me in finding what I wanted to do in life. Even though dads can be strict they have a point and a reason behind everything, even yelling at you for your…
