Survival Skills: Survival Theory versus Survival Action
Any article you read or any video you view online about survival techniques that you have not mastered yourself is, in essence, a theory. Theories until you perform the actions yourself, once you perform them and are successful at it, it then it goes from theory to reality, action versus theory.
Theory: Abstract thought or contemplation; an idea of, or belief about something arrived at through speculation or conjecture.
With an elbow on knee and chin cupped in your hand you think about things, you speculate, you go over scenarios in your head and you cover what ifs.

Why, because we don't know for sure whether what we are reading or seeing is true. There is one way of finding out what is true and what isn't however. That's right, action. Only you can prove or disprove a theory when it comes to survival techniques.
What works for one person may not work for you, and you do need to know before you really need to know. Experimentation is best left for the backyard or garage, because once in a survival situation, you want uncomplicated, easy to remember, and above all else, you want it to work the first time and every time.
If you want your skills to last, they must be lasting skills. Ones easy to remember and perform, and ones that can to be taught to others, because you may be incapacitated to some extent and therefore, will need to instruct others on how to perform some life-saving task.

Even if you have only read one article about wilderness survival from a reliable source, then you probably know what the basic essentials for survival are.

Know your sources for survival information, have they been there and done that is a question you should be asking.
Once you get your life organized, habits come easier. Your finances need to be in order, and your priorities need to be identified so you can work on preps that pertain to your life and not to some so-called Bushcraft experts and Survivalists online.
One crucial habit that you need to form is carrying an EDC kit or Every Day Carry kit every day. An EDC kit is not comprehensive, but if you have the right gear and materials in your kit, you can meet most daily challenges.
Once you have formed the habit of carrying every day you progress to a survival kit that is kept in your vehicle and is stowed away in your hiking or camping gear. For you to last, your gear and equipment has to be lasting, so choose quality when finances
