Bear Grylls once made a statement about survival, “Survival can be summed up in three words - never give up. That's the heart of it really. Just keep trying.” For survival purposes, people go to extraordinary lengths to keep thriving. They take expedient actions upon their survival. It is natural instinct for humans to keep thriving, without this instinct humanity would not be where it is today. After a mission gone wrong, Watney was presumed to be dead and got left behind on the planet. Turns out, Watney was still alive and 48,678,219 miles away from the rest of humanity. Watney, with only limited food, water and oxygen had to quickly plan out a way to survive. As his food supply dropped, Watney constructed a way to plant and grow potatoes, using his fecal matter. Using his fecal matter, Watney was able to establish a food supply. After going through this test of survival, Watney safely made it back on Earth where he would go on to teach future astronauts what to do in cases of an emergency. Another stunning survival story is from a man named Ricky Megee. On January 24, 2006, Megee was cruising down an isolated road when three anomalous men hijacked his car, drugged him and dumped his body in the middle of the Australian Outback. Ricky had to use his survival instinct and started living on a diet of frogs, leeches, lizards, and cockroaches. Days in to his adventure, Megee was able to find a dam to stay hydrated until he found help. Ricky was rescued by farm hands on April 6. When he was found he was a “walking skeleton” and “extremely tanned from the extreme desert
