Alcatraz also shut down because of how it was breaking down and they couldn’t rebuild it because of how much it costed. Another reason why Alcatraz shut down is because their was over 3 dozens of people who tried to escape, 12 of them died while some others got caught. But Frank Morris and his brothers tried to escape and just disappeared so we never knew if they escaped or not. The problems these things caused is that in 1964 the prison finally was shut down and took the rest of the prisoners to other prisons across the U.S.A.
The Rock was one of the most famous prisons ever, and one of the only prisons to hold the most wanted criminals including Al Capone. Alcatraz had to be shut down because of how much it costed. Alcatraz was most famous for their prisoners and their way of saying how it was impossible to escape. Alcatraz is now a place where a lot of tourists come to visit and feel like how it felt in the cells and more. Alcatraz is still today one of the biggest prisons and part of history today and still
