Superhero Research Paper
I decided after 31 years of teaching to put on my invisible cape and become the Superhero of Personalized Learning . This was a way to make learning more meaningful and engaging for my students and for them to have fun in the classroom. As the Super Hero of Personalized Learning I needed to help my students become successful for the real world today. It all began with the CORE 4 and designing my classroom for my students to be successful in their own learning
As a Superhero of Personalized Learning how was I going to make this personalized learning work in my room? How would the students move from one student center to another ? How would I integrated digital content, student reflection, student ownership, targeted instruction, and data driven decisions into my classroom? All these questions were flowing through my head and I was thinking where should I begin. That is when I started thinking like a Superhero and decided to tackle one component at a time. That is when my adventure into personalized learning began. The first task was to make an outline on how I wanted to

I decided I needed designated areas for my students to go in the classroom. Then I needed to decide how long would they be in the area and what each area would look like for the students. Next ,I needed to decided how many times the students would move in the Reading Block and the STEM Block. I determined there would be less than six students in an area at a time. As I am thinking on how to do this I am realizing that it takes a Superhero of Personalized Learning to plan all of these components of CORE 4 and I am only at planning the design of my room. I felt this was one of the most important parts of making sure that Personalized Learning works in the classroom. I am not saying there will not be failures, but the failure become minor tweaks in your rollout

The fact that people have different learning capacities and that people can absorb content differently is fueling the rise and acceptance of customized learning. Is customized learning the way to go in ensuring that every student needs are met? Many still are proponents of the traditional method of instruction citing the massive resources required for adoption and full implementation of customized learning. Despite this, is am a serious proponent of quality rather than quantity and therefore my position is that customized learning I the way to go. The argument for resources is rather weak because if a student needs are not met (in traditional instruction method) the resources will go to waste anyway.…

Differentiated learning is crucial in order to ensure ‘all’ learners successfully complete learning outcomes and reach their full potential. For my cultural project I chose to listen to radio broadcast stories on the station Radio Ambulante with a particular focus on Argentina. Another Country aired on March 28, 2017 focused on immigrant, Alejandra’s, struggle to find a job and a place to live and when she does find a place to live it may not be what she expected and certainly no one could have prepared her for the job that she would accept. The story told by Camilia Segura and Daniel Alarcón focused on the poor government system of Argentina, which in turn has created an identity crisis for many citizens across Argentina. Ironically ten days prior another story was aired, The Superhero, with same underlying theme of identity crisis resulting from poor government regulations. In The Superhero, a local man whose name was not immediately given was mugged and robbed in the safety of his own home. Upon notifying law enforcement they did nothing to help this man and his…

Students flourish with the help of well-trained teachers who know how to clarify the learning objectives, assess the student, and make changes along the way that can support the maximum learning potential of each student. To do this one must carefully align the objectives with assessments to paint a true picture of student learning. The payoff for students who are given ample opportunities to “personalize their learning objectives” has been found to be more effective. This comes through good peer feedback and real assessment that is ongoing by the teacher. “Providing students with opportunities to reflect on their own performance and exchange feedback with peers can help them become lifelong learners” (Dean, C.B., et al. 2012) and aligning the objectives with the assessments is the first step in this process.…
