Summer Vacation
Summer is one of my favorite seasons because school is out and it is a time to relax and be with family. This summer I did several different and exciting things. I went on a family reunion to Florida, hiking at Coopers Rock, and traveling to Washington D.C with friends.
The first thing I got to do was travel to Orlando, Florida for a family reunion. It included my intermediate family and my dad’s side of the family. We all stayed together in a rented house at a resort for a week. Although it did get kind of hectic in the house at times, it was still really nice to be together with my family. One of the many things that just my dad and siblings got to do, was to go to Sea World. Not only was it our first time going there, but it was also the cheapest. We really appreciated being there because of all the amazing sights and experiences we had. My absolute favorite thing was riding the two awesome roller coasters that they had in the park, I am not the biggest fan of rides but these were a huge thrill to me, my brother, and my dad as well. It was so nice hanging out with my family and having an extravagant amount of fun at the same time.
Another event that occurred this summer, was being able to go hiking with my sister, Grace and her boyfriend, Daniel, at Coopers Rock. I love being outdoors and experiencing all the beautiful nature surrounding me so this trip was tremendously exciting to me. I could not wait to step in the woods and walk down the first trail that came my way. I, unfortunately, had never been there before so I was being led by Daniel and Grace. Once we arrived at Coopers Rock, I was thoroughly amazed at the beauty the tall, pine trees displayed around the dark woods and engulfed the tall rocks that were hidden amidst the trees. It did not matter how hot and humid of a day that it was because as soon as we stepped into the woods, we were in the cool shade that the trees brought by hiding the sun in the sky. We ended up walking through many different trails and even climbing up and down some of rocky cliffs. I was so exhausted by the end of the day but I will never forget the great memories made during this trip.
The last exciting trip that happened was traveling with my sister and our friend, Erin McDaniel, to Washington D.C so that we could experience the many sights and to visit Daniel in Alexandria. We decided that it would be super fun for us to just take a trip up there together, with no parents, and have a great time with each other. We made a pit stop on the way there to Tyson’s Corner Mall. It was one of the biggest and most extravagant malls we had ever been to. I felt so out of place there because of all the expensive clothing and designer stores they there. That did not matter that much to us because we were just there to hang out and stretch our legs a little bit. While in D.C we visited the Lincoln Memorial, The Aerospace Museum, the Torpedo Factory, and the Washington D.C Zoo. Many laughs and memories were made on that wonderful trip we took together and it was fun seeing Daniel along the way. I am glad that everything worked out and we were kept safe.
This summer, by far, held the most memories for me. I got to travel to so many different places, most of which I had never been, with my family and friends and through it all I grew in my personality and strength. The experiences I had were both exciting and life changing and the people that influenced those the most were my family. I am very thankful to have gotten to know them more and I am positive they are too.

Summer to me is the season of fun; the season where kids get to be outside play all day long because the day is illuminated by the sun almost until eight at night. I got to play all day and it was even better when my cousins came over, I especially enjoyed this season when I was little. I have four other cousins that are about my age so you can imagine how chaotic it was with six kids from ages six to ten years old being together. As all kids we looked for adventure with our imagination, we invented games, and our parents taught us games they played when they were younger. One game that especially stood out was a game called “hoyitos” or “little holes”.…

I didn’t really do much over the summer. We went to Indiana beach, and I am not too fond of roller coasters, or any ride for that matter, except for at water parks. Last year in 7th grade we went to Washington D.C and saw the washington monument, lincoln memorial, we went inside the Capitol building, The Changing of the Guard at Arlington cemetery, saw The White House. That didn’t really interest me, I don’t even have any souvenirs! Even earlier in the year, we went to Buffalo, New York. We saw a football game (the team we were rooting for lost,(TO THE JETS!) and we got to see Niagara Falls.…

Now there is always that boring time it takes to get to wherever you may be going no matter how far that may be it is always the least fun of the entire vacation. One warm summer day my family was frantically rushing to gather all our belongings for a week long adventure out west. We were trying our best to squeeze every item in the car; finally we were ready to depart from home. I was just fourteen years of age at the time and had never been more than a few states away. The ride there was beyond exciting, but extra long. I believe most of that was due to the anticipation of when we would finally reach the great state of Colorado.…

I was lucky enough to be able to fly out to New York City, and experience things kids my age generally are not able to experience. It was amazing! Although we only stayed for a couple days, we were able to do much with the time we had. The hotel was beautiful, but we stayed in a tight room which my four family members and I could hardly fit in.…

It was a scorching summer day in Las Vegas and my dad and I were meandering around the city in awe of the size of everything. We were acutely aware that we had overdressed for the weather, having just left a chilly Illinois. It was the hottest place to which I had ever been. The both of us, father and son, were going to meet up with my grandpa to go to the Grand Canyon for one of the greatest trips ever. During summer vacations, my family spends as much time as we can at our cabin in Show Low, Arizona. The smell of pine trees, a chilling breeze, and the crackling of fireplaces gives such a comforting feeling and allows me to escape from the real world for a while. It is relieving to get away from the blazing heat down in Phoenix. We have many lifelong friends who also share the pleasure of owning a cabin in Show Low. Summer is, by far, the best part of every year.…

Long stretch of summer vacation is one of the arguments that some parents and educators are arguing about. They say that the school year should be changed so that there wouldn’t be a 10-week summer break. But for me the school year should not be changed. Students should still have 10-week summer break. Students are just humans they also need to rest and relax even just for 10-week. 10-week summer break is the time for students to enjoy and have a fun time with their family. Summer is for students for them to relax, be productive, and enjoy more quality time with their family.…
