My ideal summer holiday
After my hard and busy school year my summer holidays began. I felt happy and began to plan a lot of wonderful things to do during my summer vocation. There are many ways to spend our holidays.
I like travelling very much. In the old days people had to travel several days, weeks and months to get to the place they needed. They either went on foot, by coaches driven by horses or on horseback or by boats and ships. Then trains, trams, cars, buses, airplanes, underground and other means appeared. Aeroplanes carry passengers to various parts of the world. But most of us still have to use trains. A lot of people like to travel by train because they can look at passing villages, forests and fields through windows.
Talking about travels, the first place I would like to go is Greece. During summer, there are many water parks in Greece. And no matter if your hotel is on the beach and has six swimming pools, for most children, a few hours at a water park can make up for at least ten minutes spent visiting a cultural monument or museum. Generally, when travelling Greece , remember that standards of safety are not the same as what you may be used to. In recent years, they have added more hand rails and other barriers. But don't count on them. There won't always be protective walls, handrails, or other amenities.
Child educators know how hard it can be to start school again in the fall when children have just vegetated all summer. By taking a positive approach to a summer reading program, you can help their minds stay active all summer. In our family, we have a tradition of giving our children a book to read on the last day of school. This year, we have purchased a few classics like Ivan Franko “Perekhresni stezhky”, but all book genres are welcome. Most public libraries offer a summer reading program where kids can check out books, read them and qualify for some rewards during the summer.
