Summary Of Politically Correct Bedtime Stories By James Finn Garner
INTRODUCTION: James Finn Garner is an American writer and satirist based in Chicago. [ ] He is the author of Politically Correct Bedtime Stories, [ ] Politically Correct Holiday Stories, Apocalypse Wow, "Once Upon A More Enlightened Time" and May 2007 "Recut Madness". Garner graduated from the University of Michigan, where he won a Hopwood Award for one of his short plays. Politically Correct Bedtime Stories, Garner's first book, have sold more than 2.5 million copies in the U.S. and has been translated into 20 languages. It spent 65 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Politically Correct Bedtime Stories is composed of 13 tales depicting the unprejudiced pursuit of literature from the blemished ancient history. The author, Garner, wrote this book to serve its purpose- “to entrench the patriarchy, to estrange people from their own natural impulses, to demonize “evil” and to “reward” an “objective” “good”.” (p. 3). Thanks to James Garner, he quoted that “It should be mentioned here that the name "Little," was a family name, and not a derogatory, size-biased nickname. It was only by sheer coincidence that Chicken Little was also of shorter-than-average height.” (p. 69). The concern about the title was now solved by Garner. But the average height mentioned depends on the basis or the perspective of one thing. So, I presume that Garner missed this thought, height is relative to one another. Another point in the story I would want to review was the line “I can ask whom to sue for these ridiculously bony legs of mine. They've caused me nothing but anguish and embarrassment my whole life” (p. 72). It appears to be judgmental in the physical sense. If chickens could just read and understand this book, they may perhaps feel insulted with the statement. Still, James Garner has proved his argument and
