Summary: College Athletes Should Not Get Paid
College athletes bring schools income due to their abilities, should they get compensated or have they already been? College athletes are taken advantage of by not getting compensated for their performance and likeness. Athletes are given free tuition to get a college education and are provided opportunities. Shouldn’t these opportunities count as benefits for the students? They should use these benefits to better themselves and take advantage of their abilities? Student Athletes shouldn’t be paid for their likeness..

On the other hand, athletes risk their bodies for the school and do not get compensated for their likeness. The schools make money by selling tickets and merchandise based on the athlete’s likeness. On the contrary, NCAA

The debate whether to pay college athletes or not arose in the 1980s after Southern Methodist University was caught paying football players for their services.
