Suffering Experience Essay
1. Describe a time when you experienced a significant period of suffering. How did you deal with that experience? How did you find comfort in the midst of suffering? I was suffering an unimaginable loss and feeling betrayed, my son, 5 years of age, was taken from me as the result of 2 men, one an abusive tyrant and the other bi-sexual, my ex-husbands. The two of them had conspired against me. My son was ripped from me and very serious allegations of child abuse were alleged. They were all lies; my son was at the center of my world. They had hired an attorney and without any investigation obtained a court order. I was in fear that I would lose my son forever and very confused how with this could ever happen. I did not realize, when children are involved, in order to protect the child, courts would rather error on the side of caution to protect the child. I contacted an attorney and they requested $20,000.00 as a retainer, and the cost for a custody lawsuit could go as high as $100,000.00. I did not have the money to fight this injustice. This perpetuated my fear and hopelessness further and contemplate suicide. I could not imagine a life without my son. I found comfort with 3 Christian women, counselors, at the peak of my suffering. The problem arises when Christians experience evil and sin; those that have prayed for healing and rescue question why God has not answered their cries for help (Sharpe ).
