The term “balano-” referring to glans of the penis. From greek origin Balanos which mean Acorn. -itis: inflammation
Is the inflammation of the glans, mostly around the rounded top of the penis. This is most common in men who are uncircumcised, circumcision can actually prevent balanoposthitis. Without the top layer of skin there is a minimal chance of infection. System that are most common in the beginning of the infection are itchy genital, pain in the genital area, and discharge. Balanitis can be easily diagnosed during examination because the symptoms are visible, often doctor will take a sample of the discharge. Doctor will then prescribe anti-itch cream and recommendation that the patient no longer use any
