I currently work full time as a Healthcare Recruiter while attending school as a Full Time Virtual College student. In addition, I take care of my adult sister who is chronically sick and has been unemployed for almost 2 years. I am unfortunate to be in a place where I can be of assistance to my sister and take care of her finanically more than 50% of the time. However, returning to school full time and paying for the cost of attendance while taking care of another adult has created a lot of financial hardship and stress.…

In response to “Will the Web Kill Colleges?” by Zephyr Teachout (Chaffee, p.91). The author explores more as to why the virtual classroom will replace the physical classroom. He gives a couple examples and situations as to why he believes this to be so. I will state the main idea behind his reasoning and then elaborate on it.…

These days college students have a choice between two ways to go to college. Online classes or on campus classes. At first I found it hard to believe that you can take college courses at home. You will need to weigh a difference of options as to which one you choose. And you will also have to pick which college you want to go to. Now that you know which subject you want to study and which degree you need whether it's an associate's degree, a bachelor's degree, or a certificate you can begin to think about different schools that fit your requirements. With all this into consideration, then it is time to decide if you want online or on campus.…

An article, titled ‘Can Online Learning Ever Beat the Real Thing?’, was posted on bigthink.com and written by Simon Oxenham. This article provided some arguments opposing people’s assumptions about traditional way of teaching being a better option than online learning. This article mainly tells you some arguments from Barbara Oakley, an engineering professor with a lot of experience on this topic, and also the author’s experience in online learning. This article also discussed the advantages and the way online learning became an effective learning method based on Barbara’s observation as a lecturer. However, some of the claims were not practical in real life and were not provided with…

I am quickly finding out that becoming a successful online learner is an acquired skill. It is most definitely a lot more challenging than I expected. In today’s world, flexibility and convenience of online learning tend to be attractive to students. “Flexible class schedules mean you can participate when it’s convenient for you, within an assigned period” (Walden University, 2014). Working and attending school full time is a definite challenge, but the easy access and accessibility of online learning has made all the difference. I started the program with a few skills that I knew would help me succeed. Self-discipline, persistence, and dedication with a goal in mind will perhaps be the key aspects to my personal success. I absorbed the importance of these qualities early on in nursing school as I struggled largely in cultivating new study habits. Self-discipline gave me the ability to stick to my resolutions and follow them through until completion. I believe self-discipline is one of the most important requirements in attaining goals.…
