Studying Abroad Is Better Than Studying in Local Universities

It become a popular trend among the community to send their children to study overseas as for them our local universities does not have the international quality of education and poor in facilities. However, in my point of view, I totally disagree with the statement since I believe study in local universities is more beneficial. First of all, this is because our local universities had improved tremendously from year to year. Moreover, Malaysia has been awarded as the education hub for higher learning which has countless of public and private universities with many foreign students. This shows that the foreigners trust our quality of education more than ourselves. Next, local universities also provided the qualified lecturers including lecturers who from overseas. All the lecturers are hired based on their experiences which must be at least 5 years in education field. Furthermore, most of the academic programs are received full accreditation from Malaysian Qualifications Agency who formerly known as National Accreditation Council. Thus, our local universities actually have the capability in producing many successful students like doctors, teachers, bankers, lawyers, architects, and others. The significantly higher fees for international students is definitely a huge factor of how studying abroad may not be the ideal choice for everyone. Furthermore, governments and institutions are starting to implement policies to ensure that local universities still appeal to their locals. This can be seen by student exchange programmes set up where students get to experience education in a different country for one or two semesters while still paying local university fees. Also, most governments subsidise their local students, like in Australia, where the government has schemes called “Higher Education Loan Programme” and “Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support”, which gives out loans to local students and offer subsidies from the government…
