STUDY BS CPE
Importance or Significance of the Study A common misconception asserts that computer engineering strictly focuses to develop hardware. Since computer engineering and information technology programs both contain some software-based education, some CpE’s focus on software engineering after graduation, applying new concepts to an innovative software product. Some schools offer a software engineering concentration to Computer Engineering graduate studies, further merging science and engineering education. Both Computer Engineers and IT professionals ultimately work with data and attempt ultimately to harness meaning from it, there is significant overlap in coursework that students in the two fields take, as well as in the careers they pursue. This does not minimize the distinctive nature of the two disciplines. It simply acknowledges the fact that these types of computer professionals find context and purpose in similar kinds of projects or in different aspects of the same kinds of projects.
This study is very timely and relevant because today graduates of computer engineering find employment in a variety of settings, such as universities, industry, and government organizations. Computer engineers have extensive training in the areas of electrical engineering and computer science which are attractive combinations to potential employers and allow the student to continue studying in graduate or professional schools. Computer engineering programs provide students with a background that prepares them for careers as lifelong learners since it is imperative that computer engineers maintain their technical competence in a field that is developing and changing rapidly. My interest in coding began when I was nine years old, designing my Kacheek’s webpage for my Neopets account, fascinated with how my <br>’s turned into line breaks and how my <img src=”image.jpg”>’s turned into images. Years later, I was struck with this same feeling while sitting in Computer Programming class, typing lines of seemingly meaningless text into my Java IDE and watching it exactly generate my intended output and display a screen flashing, “Hello, world.” MIT’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department appeals to me because of my interest in computer science, something I hope to pursue in college. Moving from High School to college is often a rollercoaster on the mind of most students. After the appliance and acceptance process, we then encounter a bigger question: What will our major be? As a computer and technology lover, I had a hard time understanding and choosing between computer science and computer engineering; even though I already knew that I wanted to study computers. People often think that studying computer science is the same as studying computer engineering, but these two important fields of computing are significantly different. I decided to start doing some research on the main differences between both and ended up realizing that I was not the only one on this dark road. Surprisingly, many other students had the same questions I had (some of them worse), so that made me feel better. I ended up choosing computer engineering with the hopes of maybe minoring in Computer Science or Software. One other reason is the fact that my sister is already a computer science undergraduate, and we don 't really want two Sebastiaos on the same field. The goal is to take over the world in the different areas! But what is the difference between both? If in fact, there is any.…

The Computer Engineering curriculum teaches students about computer hardware, software, integration, interfacing, and applications, with a strong emphasis on analysis and design. In their first two years, students obtain a solid foundation in mathematics and sciences. In their third year, students are introduced to a broad spectrum of computer engineering disciplines. In their senior year, students gain in-depth knowledge in elective areas of electrical engineering and computer science. In addition to solving technical problems, engineers must also be responsible and respected members of the community. Therefore, the curriculum includes a range of general education courses to round out the students university education.…

Software engineering applies the fundamental concepts and principles of both computer science and engineering in order to create, operate, and maintain software systems. The University of Waterloo offers a software engineering program in which one can earn a Bachelor of Software Engineering degree (BSE). This program is offered jointly by the school’s Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Mathematics, and is recognized as both an engineering and computer science undergraduate program. This specific program offered at Waterloo is a co-op program where attending students alternate between four-month study terms at school and four-month work terms at various businesses, industries, or the government. While on work terms, one can experience the practical concepts which are applied in the real world, and also earn a salary at the same time, helping to finance one’s education. Due to the work terms, the overall time it takes to complete this program is about four years and eight months, and while this may seem longer than other programs offered at other schools, a person graduating this program would have an edge in the software industry as they would be graduating with two full years of work experience and pay. The cost of attending this program for the four years is around $94,480, which includes all expenses. In order to be accepted into the university, one must have taken fundamental courses for software engineering such as: Advance Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Chemistry, Physics, and English. Courses such as Computer Science is recommended, as it is necessary to have a background in programming in order to be admitted, as well as having an average starting in the low nineties and obtaining a minimum grade of seventy percent in all mandatory courses.…

Before my day at this university, I came to see a significant amount about this field. I spoke with few modern Computer engineers, and asked them questions about their career. After spending time with those engineers, I came to realize that computer engineer are needed for various jobs all around the globe, and the work is tedious but in the end the computer engineers get paid hefty for their works. Most of the time computer engineers deal with designing and manufacturing memory systems, peripheral devices, and central processing units. Computers are part of our daily life. We use them from microwave machines to smart phones and including cars. This creates an enormous eccentric for production and manufacturing of new products all around the world. One of the best examples comes from the Apple Company, each time when a person uses his or…
