Malcolm X and MLK Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Baptist minister and the leader of the civil rights movement. He faced many discriminations and became a preacher that won many worthy titles as a black man. MLK tried to explain and persuade the society in coming together in peace for the future children to be equal no matter what color of skin. MLK had a dream that both white and black men unified to have equal rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.On the other hand, Malcolm X was prisoned for his series of crime that led him to become a black muslim. He formed a organization called Afro-American Unity to fight for political rights in the lives of black men. Malcolm X tried to persuade other of non-violence, equal rights, and to stand ground and fight for what must be fought.
Martin Luther King, Jr. piously gave the speech that if we men don’t do anything about the segregation, that black men will always be treated unequally. “But 100 years later the Negro still not free”. Even if there is the Emancipation of Proclamation that lead slaves to be free there will always be segregation and animosity in the eyes of white men towards black men. This also connects to Malcolm X’s point of standing for equal rights,(“when you come to make a decision, you have to weigh all of what you’ve heard and place it where it belongs”) the main point to Malcolm X’s speech, to think for ourselves to take advantage and fight for ourselves. In fact,
“where you will find yourself fighting your own self”. another important message he was trying to explain through this is for us men to think about our decisions and perspective. He meant that black men spoke of non-violence but they “were” the ones who cause violence against each other. This is hypocritical of their decision and perspective and which is why Malcolm X was trying to persuade them to think for ourselves.
