Prospect High School community has a whole school expectation for respecting and caring for school environment, including facilities and resources. Our whole school approach involves staff and students regularly discussing and acknowledging the positive and responsible decision making and behaviours in relation to caring for and respecting school resources, environment and facilities. Below is an agreed school process for following through with students involved in causing damage to school property.
 The teacher or Grade Leader will discuss the damage with student(s) involved in the incident to determine the level of responsibility.
 A Grade Leader or Assistant Principal will make contact with parents to inform them of the incident, followed by a letter and invoice requesting financial contribution/reimbursement if appropriate.
 If appropriate, the student maybe required to participate in a restorative meeting to reflect upon the impact of their actions on others in the school community.
 If the Grade Leader or Assistant principal has determined the damage to be deliberate as caused by intentional student misbehaviour then reimbursement will be sought for the full cost of repair or replacement. A consequence may also be imposed on the student for the inappropriate behaviour.
Students may also be required to meet with the school Police Liaison Officer.
 If the Grade Leader or Assistant Principal has determined the damage to be caused by student or students’ misbehaviour, unsafe action or failure to follow agreed procedures but was not intentional damage, then reimbursement will be determined on a case by case basis in consultation between the school and family. A minimum fee of $50 contribution will apply OR the full cost of damage if under $50 will be passed
