This book review is on Strengths Finder 2.0. Written by Tom Rath, this book follows and elaborates on Donald Clifton's Strength Finder assessment created in 1998. Strength Finder 2.0 looks to dispel the outdated belief that only weaknesses need to be improved upon. The textbook Psychology Applied to Work describes this concept as positive psychology, "The aim of positive psychology is to shift the emphasis away from what is wrong with people to what is right with people" (Muchinsky & Culberson, pg. 384, 2016). With that premise on its head, Strengths Finder 2.0 looks to first identify the strengths of others and directs them to improve on what they already do so well. Even though the text can be applied practically, the book really focuses…

I find writing a very neutral subject because I am not terrible nor excellent at it. I have always written enough for it to be satisfactory. Therefore, I believe that one of my strengths as a writer is being able to understand what I have to write about and knowing what I want to say. I question myself every step of the way, asking myself “ Is what I am writing, answering the topic that I am addressing?” However, with that said, I believe that my weakness lies in that fact that I cannot put my thoughts into words. I have a vast amount of ideas that never get a chance to come alive on paper. I feel that I am not very good at transitions and sentence structures. Another weakness is that it takes me an awful long…

Strength based assessment is a tool that focuses on people 's strengths rather than their problems, with an aim to move away from categorising the person as the problem and to focus on their strengths and resilience by empowering the client to be the problem solver. As a writer, there are things that I do well, but there are also things I could improve on to make my writing better. I’m pretty good at getting my point across, and getting people to understand what I’m trying to say. Another thing I’m good at is just writing the paper. Once I get started on a paper it is very easy for me to just keep writing until I’m done with it. However, when doing this I tend to not use the best grammar and be too wordy with my writing. I can definitely fix these issues, and continue to build on the things that I do well.…

Strengths will determine the traits of a business or people that give it an advantage over others. This can also identify what the business is good at doing. For example, a business may have a retailer in every town in the country as a result the business will be offering a good service and therefore the reputation of the business and the quality of product or products made will increase as a result this will increase the profit earned by the business and customers that visit the business will increase. I began by taking the Personality Type Test. I received the label of ENFJ. It placed me at 60% Extroverted, 53% Intuitive, 73% Feeler, and 67% Judger. I very much agree with my emotion type being labeled extroverted. I often find myself rejuvenated when around others, and a key point on this scale is that you draw energy from others and then direct emotions and energy outward. I always put my effort into helping others and doing what I can for the things and people around me. For information gathering, I was placed into the Intuitive category. I also think this is accurate. Strengths of this type of information gathering are the ability to grasp the big picture and ask why. People in this category value knowledge, and are often referred…
