Based on the checklist, my strongest area is responsibility. I demonstrate responsibility during group works; I complete all my assigned jobs on time and I take lead in the group such as reminding other teammates about their job and materials to bring. I make sure I complete my assignments before the deadlines, and I would give up the time going out to have fun to finish my work if I couldn’t finish them on time. I submit my own work and I would make sure to cite any references I used.…

This book review is on Strengths Finder 2.0. Written by Tom Rath, this book follows and elaborates on Donald Clifton's Strength Finder assessment created in 1998. Strength Finder 2.0 looks to dispel the outdated belief that only weaknesses need to be improved upon. The textbook Psychology Applied to Work describes this concept as positive psychology, "The aim of positive psychology is to shift the emphasis away from what is wrong with people to what is right with people" (Muchinsky & Culberson, pg. 384, 2016). With that premise on its head, Strengths Finder 2.0 looks to first identify the strengths of others and directs them to improve on what they already do so well. Even though the text can be applied practically, the book really focuses…

I find writing a very neutral subject because I am not terrible nor excellent at it. I have always written enough for it to be satisfactory. Therefore, I believe that one of my strengths as a writer is being able to understand what I have to write about and knowing what I want to say. I question myself every step of the way, asking myself “ Is what I am writing, answering the topic that I am addressing?” However, with that said, I believe that my weakness lies in that fact that I cannot put my thoughts into words. I have a vast amount of ideas that never get a chance to come alive on paper. I feel that I am not very good at transitions and sentence structures. Another weakness is that it takes me an awful long…

During the unit 2 assessment test, I learned that I am all over the charts between good and poor. I fell mostly in the middle of okay with the majority of the answers. It's a reality check about your skills when you list them on paper in black and white. It helps you learn a lot about yourself when it's on paper and it's laid out in front of you. Evaluating yourself is never easy and something you don't always want to face. There is always going to be things that needs to be changed and you may not be ready to take that step.…

One of the weaknesses of this test is that it is usually the least accurate assessment of aerobic fitness, than the run, walk, and step tests. However, this test would be very relevant to us because we are currently in a swim course. One of the strengths of this test is that it includes a very detailed and easy to follow fitness classification chart. In order to find your classification, all you have to do is find your age and sex. After finding which chart relates to you based on your age and sex, you can easily identify which category you fit into. Not only that, but it doesn’t require much equipment. Any person that knows how to swim at least one stroke safely for 12 minutes could take this test.…

It’s not that I’m a weak guy, just that I had been somewhat self-conscious about my strength early on in my high school career. My gym class didn’t help too much, either. Thanks to a demeaning test of strength appropriately dubbed the “Grip Test,” once each quarter I was provided the opportunity to squeeze a gadget, get a score, and have my teacher announce it out loud, no matter how high or (as in my case) how low it was. No matter how hard I tried, the cruel and callous scale never registered above 40. Almost every other male in the class could boast of a high-40’s or mid-50’s score. I hated that test with a passion. Until recently. When this semester rolled around and I had the gripper placed in my palm, I was prepared for the same old same…

Communication is essential in my life if I am going to have successful relationships with my family, friends, and co-workers. When I think of communication I think of all the ways in which I express myself to those around me. Communication could mean a phone call, letter, e-mail, face to face conversation or simply snuggling up on the couch to watch a good movie. There are ways in which my communications skills are powerful, and other times when I feel as if I should place my foot in my mouth.…
