Bottled water has become a growing problem in the United States. It has taken a major toll on the environment and is polluting the Earth. The damage that it is causing is detrimental and leaving a lasting effect. About 1,5000 plastic water bottles are consumed every second in the United States. BPA, which is a chemical used in plastic, is exposed to humans when they drink out of water bottles. It affects more women than men, and about 96% of women have BPA in their bodies. Another chemical in plastic water bottles, called Phthalates, effects humans as well. This chemical affects men more…

From the market analysis portion of the paper we already established that internationally, Anheuser is expanding both into the Asian and Latin American markets. But typically what segment of the market do they target specifically? Well currently, the company is making an attempt to target the female population. Michelob Ultra is being marketed in women's magazines like cosmopolitan and other AB brands are placed on woman-focused channels such as Oxygen and Lifetime. Women however aren't the only focus. With the recent focus being on FMB's, the most consistent and continuous market has been the 21-27-age bracket, mostly college students. It's Bacardi line of flavored malt beverages and the latest additions, Tilt and B-to-the-E agree with the lifestyle of the contemporary adult looking for innovative drinks that is suitable for a variety of occasions and is an alternative to beer. For the more traditional and patriotic consumer, Anheuser markets towards its US customers by boasting on the fact that it is the only American made beer.…

PepsiCo, Inc. is currently operating in China. It has been in the country since 1982, when it started its first operation in Shenzhen and later established 30 joint ventures all over the country. Recently CEO Indra K. Nooyi said that China “represents our single biggest opportunity today outside the U.S.” (Einhorn & Balfour, 2009 September 28). Recently PepsiCo is stepping up its investments and interests in the emerging market of China. With 1.34 billion people and a Chinese soft drinks market forecasted to have a $40 billion value by 2014, it’s easy to see why PepsiCo is investing in this country now. With government plans to improve the infrastructure, distribution will further improve as well, making it easier to get Pepsi to the Chinese consumers. According to Datamonitor, the company announced in 2008 that it would invest $1 billion in China over the next four years to tap the potential of this growing market (2010 May 14a). This investment would help expand its business and broaden its product portfolio. And according to an article in Advertising Age in 2008, CEO Nooyi said that this was the company’s largest investment in China in the almost 30 years they have been conducting business there. The investment is consistent with their broader global strategy of investing in high-growth developing markets and they want to sell to China’s fast-growing middle class. The money will go towards bigger manufacturing capacity, R&D, and building Pepsi’s sales force in order to broaden product distribution (Madden, 2008 November 10). But that wasn’t the only recent investment. Benjamin Li notes that in May 2010 PepsiCo announced they would invest $2.5 billion in China over the next three years, which would be used to build food and beverage plants, especially in China’s…

‘Geographic segmentation calls for dividing the market into different geographical units such as nations, states, regions, countries, cities, or neighborhoods’ (Kotler, Keller & Burton, 2009,p213). Coca-cola Amatil (CCA) is the local Coca-cola licensee, manufacturer and bottler operating in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (AFR business case study) Mount Franklin as one of CCA’s brand certainly targeted in these countries, and especially for Australian urban people. As case study said that ‘as little as 20 years ago the market share of bottled water in Australia was almost zero’, means that focus on Australia as a target market because of it has a potential market. ‘Demographic segmentation is divide the market into groups on the basis of variables such as age, family size, family life cycle, gender, income, occupation, education, religion, race, generation, nationality, and social class’ (Kotler, Keller & Burton, 2009, p215). According to the Australian Bottled Water Institute, bottled water is consumed by people…

An example of intangible benefit is the promise of quality that a product brings. Perceived costs are the economic sacrifices (emotional/energy/money) that the customer has to make in order to acquire the product. Perceived costs can also be classified as tangible or intangible.
