stone age
One of the most famous Stone Age sculptures that still remain today and used as a desktop background and one of the 7 wonders of the worlds Introduction: The Stone Age is a broad prehistoric period during which stone was widely used to make implements with a sharp edge, a point, or a percussion surface. The period lasted roughly 3.4 million years, and ended between 4500 BC and 2000 BC with the advent of metalworking.[1] Stone Age artifacts include tools used by humans and by their predecessor species in the genus Homo, as well as the earlier partly contemporaneous genera Australopithecus and Paranthropus. Bone tools were used during this period as well, but are more rarely preserved in the archaeological record. The Stone Age is further subdivided by the types of stone tools in use.

Impact of Stone Age
The Stone Age shaped, developed and formed our modern day form of living. There are numerous facts and events that have occurred throughout time that are evidence of this.
The Stone Age began as far back as three million years ago in some places. In 2010, fossilized animal bones bearing marks from stone tools were found in the Lower Awash Valley in Ethiopia. Discovered by an international team led by Shannon McPherron, at 3.4 million years old they are the oldest evidence of stone tool use ever found anywhere in the world This was when neanderthals were roaming the world using primitive weapons to hunt animals as well as searching for other sources of food. Since that time the ways of living and even the shape of man have evolved greatly into their modern form.

There is a place called Pedra Furada in Brazil, there archaeologists find tens of thousands different stones and although they all look like tools, only some of them were actually tools made by human and the rest was shaped by the mother nature. Although we know the ways how to identify the stone tools, it still is a complicated research, for we cannot say anything exactly. Stone tool analysis is inevitably complicated for tools, cores and flakes could be changed into something completely different at any stage their use - lives. The Neolithic (7,000 BCE–3,000 BCE) was a time of intense ecological, technological, and sociological transition. Ecologically, climactic conditions in the Northern Hemisphere were shifting from Ice Age to Global Warming. Warmth in the Northern Hemisphere peaks every 22,000 years and bottoms out 11,000 years after that. Ever since the last glacial maximum (18,000 BCE), the climate had been heating up. Glaciers melted, sea-levels rose, and lands that were once barren and unproductive were now very lush and green (including, for example, the Sahara). Technologically, the process used to make stone tools was shifting from flaking to grinding. Stone tools made with ground edges are smoother, stronger, and more durable than their flaked counterparts, just the kind of tools you would need to cut down the forests for building material or to make room for other endeavors. Sociologically, the lifestyle enjoyed by Stone Age humans was shifting from mobile, egalitarian, clan-based hunting and gathering to sedentary, hierarchical, tribe-based farming, hunting, and herding. It is these three occupations that the “Flood” story…

The use of simple tools dates to about 2,400,000 BCE when various shaped stones were used to strike wood, bone, or other stones to break them apart and shape them. Stones attached to sticks with strips of leather or animal sinew were being used as hammers by about 30,000 BCE during the middle of the Paleolithic Stone Age. The hammer's archeological record shows that it may be the oldest tool for which definite evidence exists of its early existence. Stone hammers that date back to 2,600,000 BCE have been found.…

Precisely when early humans started to use tools is difficult to determine, because the more primitive these tools are (for example, sharp-edged stones) the more difficult it is to decide whether they are natural objects or human artifacts. There is some evidence that the australopithecines (4 mya) may have used broken bones as tools, but this is debated.…
