The botanist advised the state agent to use the size of the protein “compositase” to find the identity of the plant in the pot. This process uses electric currents to draw DNA out from the wells formed in the gel because the DNA is negatively charged and it would try to move through the gel to get away from the negative side of the electric current. This allows the scientists to see it’s behavior as it moves through the gel as the smaller proteins move more quickly than the larger ones. Since DNA is colorless the scientists stain the sample in order to visualize the protein and then they can compare the sizes and patterns of the three flowers to the sizes and patterns from the plant in the…

There was evidence that wasn’t collected such as blood that Mrs Chamberlain offered to give to the police. Evidence such as their tents and belongings were moved to a motel on the first night, which could’ve caused contamination allowing the evidence to have alterations. Their tents and belongings were also not searched. In addition, the family was then allowed to leave in their car the following morning without it being explored allowing contamination with another piece of evidence. Furthermore, evidence that was discovered later on in the case such as Azaria’s jumpsuit was moved then picked up and was not placed as it was found which tampered with the evidence. Although the collection of evidence throughout this case demonstrated faults, the Jury still concluded to Mrs Chamberlain as a guilty woman, which led to her…

Archaeology is a multifaceted discipline and process that requires assiduous planning and dedication. Hume’s excavation at Martin’s hundred relied heavily on multiple disciplines in conjunction with a plethora of different archaeological methods and tools to illuminate the lives of the Europeans at Martin’s hundred, and their relationship with the Native Americans. Moreover, the field of archaeology can be spontaneous, and many sites can be discovered by accident as was the case with Martins Hundred. Despite the spontaneity, however, excavation sites require discipline and logical reasoning to formulate research objectives and questions, even, if these queries are formulated relatively quickly as the site is unearthed. Furthermore, Hume utilized…

Enzymes are proteins that lower the activation energy needed for chemical reactions. The two main environmental factors that can affect the enzyme’s activity are temperature and pH, and each enzyme works best at a particular temperature and pH. The purpose of this enzyme kinetic experiment was to observe the effect of temperature and pH on the reaction of barley alpha-amylase enzyme with starch substrate and establish the optimum temperature and pH for this reaction. The optimum temperature and pH for the reaction of alpha-amylase and starch was predicted to be a temperature of 50°C and a pH of 5. The optimum temperature and pH for the reaction was determined by monitoring the reaction rate of alpha-amylase at different temperatures and pH’s by means of using a spectrophotometer to measure the disappearance (in absorbance) of the substrate starch. As a result, the absorbance of the substrate starch decreased at different rates for each temperature and pH as time continued to increase. The results showed that the reaction rate with the enzyme is highest when it reaches a temperature of 50°C and has a pH of 5. Therefore, a farmer should grow barley seeds in soil that has a temperature of 50°C and a pH of 5.…
