STEPS IN STATISTICAL INVESTIGATION
STEPS IN STATISTICAL INVESTIGATION
1. DEFINING THE PROBLEM
The main goal of the project we are involved in is to get some information about how people from different countries (as Spain and Sweden) think about one important problem in our current society: the Environment.
Pupils and teachers from both countries created the questions for the surveys in order to get some important aspects and point of views about this topic.
Then, pupils carried out surveys and now, it is the moment to analyze and draw conclusions.

2. GATHERING RELEVANT INFORMATION
This heading refers to the surveys we have already carried out. Our initial idea was to choose 200 citizens both from Arboga and La Manga, and in order to have a global view about what those citizens thought we planned to choose them by taking into account their ages. Then, we needed
One hundred students aged 15-20.
Fifty people aged 20 to 40.
Fifty people aged more than 40 years old.
For that, we have carried out the surveys in different ways: on-line printing the questions, asking people (in an appropriate language), and selecting their answers printing the surveys, giving them to people and get them back in another moment.

3. PRESENTING/ORGANIZING DATA
We are in that step. The number of surveys we have already completed is ____, and now we must organize the information we can extract from them in order to analyze the data and draw conclusions about the topic we are interested in.
We have designed a document in order to present the information we have obtained in an organized way.
The document has the following form.

How can you complete it?
- First, we are going to split the big group into small groups of 5-6 students.
- Each group is going to study only a small quantity of surveys
- For each survey, the group must read the answer and draw a tick or a “|” in the correct place.
For example:
