Stephen Harper was elected in 2006 as our Prime Minister of Canada. Since the time he was elected, The Conservative Party and the leader, Stephen Harper have improved Canada and developed the country into more settled through these changes.
Stephen Harper has completed major changes in Canada by having new policies for the environment, social policies and improved health and education policies.
The Conservative Party had set laws regarding the environment to become more environmentally friendly. One of these actions is the second Clean Air Act. In 2006, the act was mostly to fight against smog pollution and to reduce the percentage of greenhouse gasses. These actions targets on the vehicle fuel intake and reduce the number of population of the greenhouse gasses and lessen the ozone level and Smog pollution. Also, another project that is going to keep the country clean is the Green Bin Project. The purpose is to recycle organic food waste for compose. It started at 2010 in Vancouver and if most residents participate, Vancouver will be the greenest city in the world by the year 2015. Stephen Harper took these arrangements for Canada to be more of a greener country.
Stephen Harper has changed social policies since he was elected, one of these changes are same-sex marriage. He promised to revisit the issue of legalized same-sex marriage and have a free vote. Stephen Harper announced to take no more action after the rejection of changing the government bill of legalizing same-sex marriage. Stephen Harper took actions in changing the Child-care policy by presenting a new child care allowance. The new child care policy gives parents with children under six years old an allowance of $1200 per year. This policy saved and helped many parents with low income.
