Statement of violations of the course “Evaluation and Monitoring of the Oil and Gas Asset”
To the Director of the MERE Program
Vyacheslav Gorovoy

Statement of violations of the course “Evaluation and Monitoring of the Oil and Gas Asset” taught by Boris Aronstein. There were the following violations in this course: [*]

During the whole module, the professor did not put any grades and evaluations of student works/HAs on My.Nes. Thus, students did not know their current rating for the course during the module.

During the whole module, no formal rules applicable to all students were followed. Everything depended on the professor's "relationship"/”attitude” to a particular student. The professor made decisions on his own, ignoring the rules defined in the Syllabus.

The professor conducted Midterm. Later, the professor announced the results of the midterm publicly (i.e., ‘pass/fail’), therefore, the confidentiality of the scores was breached.

The “Workshop” assignment constituted group collaboration, with each group including 5 students. The assignment required written replies to the questions provided. The professor stated that the final mark will be shared (the same) by the group members, However, the final marks differ within the group and depended on the personal attitude of the professor.

As well as the “Workshop” assignment, the “Case Studies” assignment implied teamwork in the aforementioned groups. Although the presentation was collective and implied “pass/fail” assessment, the final marks differ within the group and also depended on the personal attitude of the professor.

The Syllabus states explicitly that “Attendance is not mandatory and no-attendance will not lead to the automatic disqualification for the final exam”. However, several students were refused final exam attendance on the basis of no-attendance during the module. Some other students were granted attendance credit for the final exam, despite low attendance levels.

The professor announced the minimal number of correct answers required to get the “pass” for

Please do not work together to formulate a response and do not loan out your completed assignments. You will be expected and encouraged to work in groups on in-term cases discussed in class and/or tutorials.…
