St. Patrick's Day: The Worst Day Ever
The Worst Day Ever

When I went to school, it felt like it will be a normal day. Little did I know that it would be much, much worse. It was March 17, 2017. It was St. Patrick’s Day! A day to be lucky. But it was the opposite for me. I was wearing green like everyone does on St. Patrick’s Day to be lucky. To be specific I was wearing a lime green shirt, gray pants, dark green socks, a green headband, and black boots. I was wearing a lot of green.

All of the bad luck started when I was in math class. Mrs. Bartlett was handing out our chapter test that we did a week ago. Mrs. Bartlett handed me back my math test. I looked at my grade. I got an 81 on the test. That’s a B! No! It was as if the test was saying “Ha, ha. You didn’t get an A. I ruined

Even Mrs. Bartlett tried to calm me down. I wasn’t upset anymore. I was very angry. When she was done calming me down, she handed out the math homework. While she was handing it out, I got called to the office for some reason. I went down wondering why as I was walking down. The secretary sighed, “Your mom is on the phone.” I answered, “Oh, okay. Hi Mom, how are you?”

She sang, “Hi Tenesan. I’m fine. I know it is cold outside, but the 2nd graders (my brother was in second grade then) are doing something, and I have to watch Enoch, so you have to walk home.” “What?!” I whisper-shouted. “I have to walk home all by myself?!” “Oh no. You will walk home with Derese. I called her dad and he said it was okay,” she replied. “Oh, all right. I’ll walk home,” I groaned.

“Don’t slip on the ice,” she

I told them that I slipped on some black ice. Like Derese, many people were begging to take me down the elevator. If they didn’t ask to take me down the elevator, they asked to help me with my books. It was a hard decision. I finally picked XiXi to carry my books for me since she is in my class. I also told Isabella, Marisa, and Kamela that they could go down the elevator since they were in my class, too. Even in choir, Mr. Deluca asked what happened. I told him how I fell. While everyone else had to stand, Mr. Deluca let me sit. I had to do almost the same thing for 1 month. I was very happy to get my cast off after the 1 month has passed. So in conclusion, that was the story worst day of my

It started out like any other day. I got out of bed and scrambled to get out the door after I took an extra hour in the shower. I hopped into a seat next to my best friend Erin. We talked for the ten minute ride before finally arriving at school. I sat down in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring. Brrriinnngggg! I rushed to Mrs. Gregory’s room for Lit. Everything was fine until gym class. I had forgotten my assignment notebook in Mrs. Saphir’s room so I ran back upstairs to get it from under my chair. As I started to walk back towards the locker room I heard the bell ring… late! I walked into the locker room hoping Mrs. Dennis wouldn’t notice my tardiness, but my locker is right next to her office. I quickly filled out a minor for before…

This bullentin board represents a rainbow and a pot of gold. In the month of March, students learned about a topic and wrote an opinion summary aboout the myth of St. Patrick’s Day. Students had written a short opinion about what they thought about finding a pot of gold. Students had learned that opinions are not facts. Students learned that opinions are adjectives using adverbs to convey to the reader, its believeable. Maybe at one time it existed or occurred once before. The students wrote what they would do with a pot of gold. This student wrote about, if he found a pot of gold he would buy a playstation, a big t.v, and an ice cream store.…

Some time has passed and it was almost time for Proserpina to return to the underworld with Pluto. Ceres was trying to make the best of the little time she had with her daughter, but she recently fell ill due to weather conditions. On St. Patrick’s Day I had the pleasure of volunteering in a first grade class at my former elementary school. Each time I go back to the school, it brings back memories that I have not thought of in many years. Elementary school seems like a lifetime ago for me. But, because I had so many good experiences there, I love being able to be a part of the memories that kids today will always have. For example, holidays were always some of the best memories of my time at Lanigan because the teachers always went to such great lengths to make it an enjoyable time for everyone. So, on St. Patrick’s Day naturally almost every kid was wearing green. Some had on green and gold beads, some had green glasses, and one girl even had a pouch of “gold coins”.…

“Wrong answer Laurran, do it again,” Mrs. Taylor raised her voice at me. The room went silent. Nobody was talking or moving, to scared to get scolded by Mrs. Taylor. I always wondered who would want to marry her, or how she treated her kids at home. I honestly feel bad for her two kids if she treated her own students this way. I sat there, my eyes tearing up from embarrassment and failure. Mrs. Taylor doesn't understand how hard it is; doing math that is a grade above your level of experience. She doesn’t understand the pressure that is on me from my parents to do good and from the older kids in my class to show them I’m not dumb and I can do this.…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…

“Miss Moeller, what is your question?” he asked in an annoyed tone. His eyes looked like they were going to burn a hole right through me. I felt like the stupidest person in that class. I had always understood math and it was frustrating to not comprehend what he was doing. Math had always been one of my strongest subjects and I never had trouble making A’s in my previous math classes. I was already so lost in that class that I didn’t even know where to begin. As Mr. Rogers awaited my response, I could feel everyone in the class looking right at me. I wanted to sprint out of the classroom and run home. I wasn’t smart enough for an AP math class. I didn’t have the intelligence or determination.…

Today is the first day of my SPM examination. I had promised to my dad to get straight A’s in all subjects and the X-Box 360 was on the line, so that I could not afford to miss my Bahasa Melayu exam or fail to sit for it. After taking my super fast shower, I ran downstairs and skipped several staircases. Luck was not with me, I accidently had kicked my fat cat which was lying on the last staircase. I fell hard on the floor and my face was just a millimeter away from my father’s favourite solid metal Liberty Statue floor lamp which he had bought last year on our previous family trip. I was nearly sent to the hospital than getting myself to school. My knees and elbows were numbed and hurt. I ignored the pain and quickly got back on my foot. My mum was smiling cynically at me as she was used to my attitude of being late to school. Poor Jinggo was running hysterically and hiding under the dining chair taking his cover for any incoming assault he may receive. He must be regretted of mistakenly choosing a wrong spot in the house to relax himself this morning. It was not his first time, perhaps he really loves the spot even it came with a high risk warning sign on it.…
