Ssk12 Example
Essay 1 topic: Using the concept of a 'world view ', identify some of the beliefs and attitudes, particularly to education and learning that you bring to your learning now. Reflect critically on how your worldview has been shaped by factors such as your gender, age or community. In your answer refer to Hobson (1996) and Samovar and Porter (2004) from the SSK12 Reader, and Chapter 1 in A Guide to Learning Independently (Marshall and Rowland, 2006, 1-18). Student Essay General Comments (paragraph by paragraph) Through my worldview I have developed the beliefs and attitudes that education is an entitlement, open to any person, at any age, at any stage of their life. This opinion has been formed throughout my life, and affected by factors such as my age, gender and the communities in which I live. In this essay I will explore these factors and demonstrate how they led to the formation of my current beliefs and attitudes to learning. This introduction has a clear structure and contains all necessary components. The position (thesis) is clearly stated from the onset. The scope of the essay is presented and the link between attitudes to education and factors in ones life has been drawn. The structure of the essay is briefly outlined. We can almost predict the organization of the rest of the essay. Hobson (1996) defines a world view

the pupils were able to achieve the task set, towards an attitude whereby I consciously planned the development of pupils’ self-awareness was a crucial step in my professional development. An example of where this belief was put into practice was a lesson developing the concept of density with a Year 7 group. Students were given a list of possible activities they could complete to learn about density. The activities included: using a water table to explore properties of various objects, measuring the volume and mass of objects and calculating their density, reading about density in the textbook and watching a video showing density experiments. The activities were based on visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and tactile learning styles. Students had to choose and complete a minimum of two activities, from two different learning styles. These ‘choice boards’ were organized so that students chose options focusing on several different skills.…

A “worldview” was a big word for me when my teacher told me to write about it. I have known the meaning of the word, but when it comes to my mind, it becomes vague and I cannot think of what is my worldview. According to a dictionary, “worldview” means someone's opinions and attitudes relating to the world and things in general. I started to think of what affected me to think in the way I am doing now, what made me to choose to do a certain thing in my life, or why I have a certain opinion on a thing. Then, I found out one thing that makes up of a majority of my beliefs, thoughts, and actions. My parents have given a big influence to my worldview.…

I am going to be talking about key influences on my personal learning, I will start by explaining the positive and negative influences. During my childhood stages in primary school which was located in Blackburn I believe that I have experienced a lot to make me the person I am today. I have experienced a period time of being bullied and abused which had put my self-esteem and confidence down. I had to change my image just to fit in where I now believe was wrong. I have also made a few changes such as not socialising with the people I used to which destroyed me physically, emotionally and intellectually. My grades have also put me down in secondary school and my ability of understanding. I felt as though I did not get enough support from my teachers because they never made me feel motivated. Since I was a slow learner and did not achieve much I was put in a lower group with other students who had lower grades. I felt that I was not valued by my teachers and for this reason I did not have any inspiration to achieve anything. My family was very encouraging however it was not enough to achieve my goals and aims. As my grades and ability started to weaken it made me feel ineffective therefore I believe I had to make a change as I had aims and goals I wanted to reach. As my mum was seeing me distracted and I was not focused enough this made her set me in motivation and inspired me to work harder.…
