Have you served anyone today? Have you lead anyone today? Are your actions always self beneficial? These questions all contribute to becoming a servant-leader. A servant-leader is a person that has a mind set to accomplish, a willing heart, and a courageous attitude. He or she must begin with the end in mind. Also, a servant-leader must develop a connection between the people they help and lead. The movie Darius Goes West is the definition of servant-leadership to the fullest capacity. In the movie Darius Goes West, when Darius and his crew decided to even go on a trip was surprising to me. They were aware of the risks of taking Darius on a trip to California. This made it prominent to me that they acted on a leap of faith. Their actions proved to the world that there is nothing in life that can hold someone back except themselves. I immediately knew that these people were courageous and determined. When Darius arrived to the beach, I was curious of how his crew was going to get his wheelchair to the water. They had material that his wheelchair could rollover since it would not be able to move in the sand. The fact that they had wood and tarp on hand showed me that they were prepared. There was no "right" way to get him down there. This stood out to me because ,as a beginning college student, I am always trying to find the best route to chose in my career. There task of getting Darius to the water made it clear to me that there is no such thing as the "best" route. The route intended for me is the one that takes me closer to my goal. Darius and his crew most definitely achieved their goal. They had a mind set to accomplish; with that, Darius was able to feel the waves upon him. Darius and his crew was more than friends; they were brothers. His crew was not just his mentors or teachers. They were a group of people that all connected with Darius on a spiritual level. God placed them with Darius for a purpose far more than they could realize. Before the
