Sports
Practicing a sport is much more than the sole act of pushing my body through exhaustion or using my skills to reach a goal. Many positive results come with participating in a sport. There aren’t too many negatives that can take place. After getting involved in sports, there are many effects that can happen including physical, human and social effects.
The first major effect of practicing a sport is that I will develop physical abilities. My body will be in better shape, and I’ll be able to achieve things that physically I couldn’t accomplish before. When I first started weight lifting about six months ago, I could not grab rim on a basketball hoop. Since then I’ve worked excessively on my leg strength and I am now able to dunk a basketball with no problem. This builds my confidence more than anything, knowing I can do things I once was not able to do. For instance my speed, muscular mass, stamina, lung capacity, and elasticity have all increased enormously after all the effort I put in trying to get better. By exercising on a regular basis my body will be healthier, which means fewer diseases and fewer injuries. I have yet to receive a serious injury due to sports that has made me take time away from making myself better. People with a healthy life tend to live longer and happier.
The second effect of participating in sports has to do with my personal life. Yes, sports will get very deep into my life. Practicing a sport requires some time, so I will be entertained for a while everyday instead of watching television or surfing on the Internet. Also it can keep me out of trouble. Putting enough given time into my activities can keep me away from bad decisions in and out of school. Usually depending on what level of play I’m at, I could be practicing or playing that sport every single day of the week. By practicing a sport I could get the chance to travel to new places where...

Getting to interact with boys and girls all together really changed, my outlook on being a “team.” Even losing most of our games, I have found an appreciation for the quote “you can’t win everything in life.” Sports have made me have the ability to work together and never give…
