I. Introduction
A. Attention Device -- Some nights I look up into the dark sky, and wonder to myself what the cosmos hold, as vast as it is. It makes me think of the infinite amount of stars, the ever-growing universe, the array of colorful galaxies, and so on. But the thing makes me wonder the most, is the existence of black holes B. Statement of topic and it's significance -- Black holes are one of the most amazing, yet most confusing phenomenon of modern astronomy. C. THESIS STATEMENT: -- In order to fully grasp the understanding of black holes, you first have to understand the formation of a black hole, its known nature and how it affects its environment, and the separate phenomenon(s) that occur within a black hole.
II. Body A. Main Point A (FORMATION) 1. The collapse of a body into extreme density with tiny volume 2. Typically, black holes are created from dying stars; how a star dies 3. Literally anything can become a black hole; Schwarzschild radius
Reference for your Supporting Facts: “The sound the universe makes”, “A Brief History of Time”, “An introduction to general relativity, black holes, and gravitational waves”
TRANSITION STATEMENT: It’s important to explain what a black does and what occurs within a black hole once they are finally formed. B. Main Point B (NATURE) 1. Even horizon, this is the point of no return 2. Incredible gravity and density; singularity 3. Two different types of black holes; angular momentum
Reference for your Supporting Facts: “The sound the universe makes”, “A Brief History of Time”, “An introduction to general relativity, black holes, and gravitational waves”, “Travel INSIDE a Black Hole”

TRANSITION STATEMENT: So because of the nature of the black hole, it has incomprehensible affects on it’s surroundings and can create it’s own separate phenomenon. To help understand these phenomenons associated with black holes, imagine the situation where you,

    A) All white-dwarf supernovae involve the explosion of stars of nearly the same mass. B) White-dwarf supernovae occur only among young and extremely bright stars. C) White-dwarf supernovae are common enough that we detect several every year. D) All white-dwarf supernovae have similar light curves, which makes them easy to distinguish from massive-star supernovae. E) White-dwarf supernovae are so bright that they can be detected even in very distant galaxies. 50) What do we mean by the singularity of a black hole? A) It is the center of the black hole, a place of infinite density where the known laws of physics cannot describe the conditions. B) An object can become a black hole only once, and a black hole cannot evolve into anything else. C) There are no binary black holeseach one is isolated. D) It is the "point of no return" of the black hole; anything closer than this point will not be able to escape the gravitational force of the black hole. E) It is the edge of the black hole, where one could leave the observable universe. 51) Which of the following is an example in which you are traveling at constant speed but not at constant velocity? A) driving around in a circle at exactly 100 km/hr B) rolling freely down a hill in a cart, traveling in a straight line C) jumping up and down, with a period of exactly 60 hops per minute D) driving backward at…

Even though the collapse takes a finite amount of time from the reference frame of infalling matter, a distant observer sees the infalling material slow and halt just above the event horizon, due to gravitational time dilation. Light from the collapsing material takes longer and longer to reach the observer, with the light emitted just before the event horizon forms delayed an infinite amount of time. Thus the external observer never sees the formation of the event horizon; instead, the collapsing material seems to become dimmer and increasingly red-shifted, eventually fading…

It would be nearly impossible to document every occurrence from ~13.7 billion years ago (the proposed beginning of the universe) to the present; however, comedic author Bill Bryson manages to provide great intellectual insight into many complex topics while still making entertaining remarks. Although he may be no expert in the arcane fields of quantum physics or mathematics, Bryson relied on a wide variety of sources (e.g. scientific research papers, interviews with experts) to compile this readily accessible account of “nearly everything.” To ensure that the reader best understands this mind-boggling information, the book first gives an introduction to truly emphasize how miraculous this particular combination of atoms (the universe). What’s even more remarkable is the fact that scientists are able to make astounding discoveries, which may seem inconceivable.…
