In this declaration of independence appear different types of ethos. The author expressed the ethos by using his reputation and his experience. Here are some examples of ethos. “He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people”. (The Declaration of Independence, Fourth line, third paragraph.) Also “he has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within”. (The Declaration of Independence, six line, third paragraph.) “He has endeavored to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands”. (The Declaration of Independence, six line, third paragraph.) “He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.”( The Declaration of Independence, seventh line, third paragraph.) Finally The last ethos shown “ He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their…

The American flag is one of our most precious pieces of history. We wave it high in the sky to show that our freedom will never die and we will always fight for it,no matter how violent or how dangerous that journey shall be. The American flag has gone through many phases and changes. It first stared back in 1775, when the American ships in New England flew a white flag with a green pine tree and a saying - "An appeal to heaven." Along with the serpent, the 13 stars and 76 stars-our flag finally has come to a stop with 50 states. The American flag has many of the common colors we see on the British flag and the Australian flag and more, but we always wear these colors on July 4th, the day we declared independence, and we have never wondered…

I was born in Hanover County, Virginia to two hardworking, tender parents on May 29, 1736. At the youthful age of eighteen, I wed my beloved Sarah Shelton (may she rest in peace) and began working as a planter like my father. After this failed attempt due to a catastrophic fire that consumed our home, I arduously worked as both a student and my own teacher to familiarize myself with the law . My endeavor as a lawyer proved to be prosperous, for I had made a renowned name for myself as an orator. On May 20, 1765 I succeeded in securing for myself a seat in the Virginia House of Burgesses . Time and time again, I found myself in generous opposition with Great Britain and her arbitrary acts of colonial exploitation. As prospects for war in hopes American independence became auspicious, I urged the public to support the American cause and the conviction for unrestricted liberty . The nation’s triumph against Great Britain proved that America is more than equipped to be a nation of prosperity AND democracy. This is a nation where we can choose to govern ourselves in rectitude and solidarity. This is a nation where a Virginian can live side by side with…

    Speech as a Patriot

Hello my fellow congressmen, my name is Isaac Sears, and I am in full support of obtaining independence for this great country. I think that we as a nation can stand on our own and not have to bow down to the British. They ask everything from us but give nothing in return. For to long have they taken away from us. We need to stand up to them and declare independence for ourselves. In the words of Thomas Paine “Man did not enter society to be worse off, or to have fewer rights, but rather to have those rights better secured.” We did not come here to pay taxes and subjected to these injustices, we came to build a life of independence. We need to fight back and take what is ours. We need to stand up to the British and show them that together we stand strong. As a whole we need to come together to fight this battle for independence. Again Paine’s words ring true in stating, “Those who want to reap the benefits of this great nation must bear the fatigue of supporting it.” We must fight for what we want, and if that means fighting a war against the British then so be it, we will carry that burden to fight for a free country.…

What does the American flag mean to me? To me it means freedom, honor, respect, courage, and happiness. Freedom, for saying what we want to say and doing what we want to do. Honor, for those who fought to keep my family and your family safe and free. Respect, for respecting the flag by taking off your hat during the National Anthem and by saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Courage, for those who commit their lives to fight in the American Armies, and keep our flag flying. Happiness, so that when I look at the American Flag I do not just see a flag I see the United States of America and I feel proud to be an American.…
