Speech on 3 Things I Would Change
MY SPEECH ON 3 THINGS THAT I WOULD CHANGE IN THE WORLD.

War is violence. Violence is hatred. Hatred is FEAR...
Fear is something that can be cured easily, to not fear someone is to be friends with them and care for them, to form as one which is the way the earth should be. War on the other hand is the complete opposite. Careless actions and fear are what make up war. War in the past has had a catastrophic effect on the way we think, live and feel. For example World War 2, the most memorable war in many people’s eyes, but definitely not for the good. It involved 61 countries with 1.7 billion people, three quarters of the world population. Families were broken up, the children sent to live with complete strangers, and the men sent to fight in the war, many of them did not even make it back. Food was rationed and peaceful everyday routine was shattered. But the thing that affected us most is the generations that were scarred by the 50 million that died in this dreadful war. All this could happen again at any time, any place and any country in the world. The world is a massive time bomb waiting to go off, and when it does the effect will be beyond anything that has ever happened. To help prevent this all we need to do is work together and we make a difference by not fearing the rest of the world, but care and be friends with them. This is all I ask for; TO BE FRIENDS.

To be friends is an important phrase. We share with our friends love and kindness. We share with our friends that small umbrella on a rainy day. We share with our friends everything we have. Now let’s share just one percent of the money we own to people that really need it and have nothing. Let’s be their friends and together we can make a difference. People all around the world live in poverty, some with not even enough money to keep them alive. Almost half the world’s population, 3 billion people, live on less than one pound a day, this lack of money means that many children do not even get one

In Peter Singer’s “The Singer Solution to World Poverty”, Singer claims that the rich taste of people with money is starving children around the world. He also believes that if human beings have it to give, why don’t we give more to the people who have less. So, according to Singer, a possible solution to world poverty is for Americans to donate all extra income, which is not necessary for everyday living, to organizations that provide aid to other poor areas of the world. If more people donated their excess money to charitable agencies, that money could mean the difference between life and death for children in need, according to Singer.…

Peter Singer brings to light a very important global problem, poverty, and offers an extreme solution to solve this problem. Peter Singer argues that the solution to world poverty is living simply and giving all excess household money to charities. Singer uses effective examples to get his point across, but gives an unreasonable solution. He gives the example that the failure to donate money will directly result in the death of children in need. "Whatever money you're spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away." (Singer)…

War is ubiquitous; there will always be one country at war with another during all the times of the year. The first recorded war was in 2700 BCE in Mesopotamia between Sumer and Elam, and the latest have been the Syrian and Iraq wars. Although there have been countless amounts of changes in warfare since 2700 BCE there will forever be a constant controversy about what good comes from war. While soldiers are risking their lives across the world civilians are at home contemplating the pros and cons of warfare. Though trauma that accompanies war is unforgivable, war is not entirely useless. Without it countries and people around the world would be taken advantage of. The destruction left behind by war is nothing in comparison to the catastrophic…

Countless times I wished to be face to face with the child or group I was indirectly supporting through monetary donations or through volunteer work and somehow provide them with more than just a temporary solution to their lifelong dilemma. I believe that the only true solution is to educate and provide them the means of which to construct a maintainable lifestyle without the constant support of others. In a perfect world, organizations such as American Red cross, Unicef, the Salvation Army, and every other organization that relies on donations would not exist and we’d simply live a life in which we primarily depend on ourselves. Simply because something seems unattainable or beyond our grasp doesn't mean we shouldn’t at least strive for it and that is exactly what my continued volunteer work will aim to do: work towards a perfect world. This idea reminds me of a commonly used expression by Norman Vincent Peal: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the…

Everyday millions of children around the world fight for survival due to starvation, lack of shelter, and proper healthcare. World poverty increases significantly daily, and innocent children lives are being affected and destroyed. The fact that the child cannot address their world poverty issue hands on, should encourage people to give back to communities that are less fortunate. In “The Singer Solution to World Poverty” Peter Singers argues, that people main priorities are luxury items instead of supporting charitable agencies that are fighting against world poverty. Many individuals follow the saying “Keeping up with the Joneses” . Which means they try to live a lavish lifestyle, but really forget about the bigger picture, and that’s helping children who struggles to get a meal daily. Singer is right we should help support charitable agencies, but in order for that to happen people should be more open-minded about donating, and put away their fancy lifestyle and luxury items.…

Giving your money to the poor or to charity organizations may sound easy enough, but in practice it is basically impossible. Peter Singer, in his recent NY Times article, “The Singer Solution to World Poverty,” argues that the rich should donate whatever luxuries and whatever money they don’t’ need all to the less prosperous. Many would argue both for and against such a viewpoint, and such a “solution” would require evaluation of its pros and cons before application.…
