SPEECH FOR HEAD GIRL NOMINEE
I love my school;
All teachers here are kind,
Such a lovely atmosphere where can you find?
Studying in this school is not just a pleasure,
It is truly a lifetime's treasure.
Over my time at Mount Carmel I have taken part in various competitions and events and have inculcated many moral values apart from academic studies. Overall I have got a lot out of school life. Now is my chance to give something back. So here am I, Muskan Khan, Std IX B standing in front of you all, contesting for the election of the school pupil leader.
I believe our school is like a tree; we are all different parts of this tree, for example – The teachers and the principal are like the roots, which supplement us with knowledge and help us to grow. If I was Head Girl, I would be like the manure which the gardener spreads to enrich the ground, just that little added extra can make a big difference. But the symbol I chose is the candle.
It is often said; all the darkness in the world cannot put out the light of a single candle. Just like a candle I will not let the difficulties overpower my confidence and I will keep doing my work sincerely with my best efforts. I understand the role of Head Girl would be a challenging role but I would look forward to those challenges with enthusiasm. A candle always consumes itself to light the way for others.In the same way, I would always guide and help my fellow students. I am easy to talk to and very approachable and if I am made Head Girl I will strive to use my excellent communication skills to get everyone involved and inspired to work hard.
There were four candles which burned slowly. The first candle said, "I Am Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit." Then Peace's flame slowly diminished and went out completely. The second candle said, "I Am Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable." Then Faith's flame slowly diminished and went out completely. Sadly the third candle spoke, "I Am Love and I haven't the strength to stay lit any longer. People put me aside and don't understand my importance .And waiting no longer, Love went out completely. Suddenly A child entered the room and saw the three candles no longer burning. The child began to cry, "Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end." Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy, "Don't be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles." With shining eyes, the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the other three candles. Like the fourth candle I will never let the Flame of Hope go out. With Hope in, no matter how bad things may be, I will make Peace, Faith and Love in the school shine brightly once again. If I would be the head girl I would keep up the motto of our school LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE and I would shine brightly to enlighten the life of other students just like a candle. I am able to take others thoughts into account and respect their opinions. I realize that, being Head Girl is not a role of role of great power over others. It’s about having the trust of the student and to represent them with honesty and enthusiasm, whenever called upon. I know being Head Girl is a big responsibility. If given the opportunity, I would take that responsibility seriously, and be a respectable role model for all of you. I would want to be seen as a team leader, and encourage all of us to be the best that we can be. I would be a leader as described by Dick Allen “A true leader is a guide, One in which you should have pride, Patient and steady with all he must bear, Ready to meet every challenge with care. He who is great and bold, one

    Being a member of Best Buddies and SAVE, I demonstrate a strong sense of dedication for supporting others and lending a helping hand. The goals of both Best Buddies and SAVE are to further acceptance, embrace diversity, promote safety in schools, and spreading positive energy. As a student representative, my sole objective would be to help enlighten the school board and those in the community about the daily life at MHS, advocate for the 1,600 students currently attending, and respectively relay any helpful amendments that would benefit the Mukwonago Area School District. The multiple clubs I participate in and the copious amounts of friendships I developed with people that have contrasting passions also allow me to speak on behalf of a relatively large group of students. The students taking part in the same activities that I belong to range from freshman to seniors. The opinions of a freshman compared to that of a senior’s may vary drastically, and being a part of clubs with a sample of each year will give me an advantage to hear an assortment of…

    Addressing a group of educated civil rights lawyers about the legality of women's suffrage would require a formal explanation with details and descriptions. For instance, it would explain in depth the legality and the Congress that amended the Constitution and eventually ratification in the states. Whereas, a high school audience would not understand all the legality and terms of the law and a general explanation of the women's suffrage and its effects of changing the Constitution with the addition of the nineteenth amendment. In this way, the most significant difference in explanation would be that the lawyer (educated) group would not need a detailed explanation of the women's suffrage whereas, high school students would need an explanatory…

    “I’m done, I did what I was supposed to. My baby is going to get here safe.” Were one of the last words Idaho teen Jenni Lake said after delivering her baby. Jenni was diagnosed with astrocytoma in 2009 a form of cancer centered in the brain and spinal cord that is almost always fatal by the time she was 16. She would undergo intensive treatment with doctors telling she would have a 30% chance of living only 2 years, Doctors also stated that due to her state she wouldn’t be able to get pregnant which troubled the teen. Around 2010 Jenni Lake discovered she was pregnant with her long-time boyfriend Nathan Wittman which started the unfortunate decision for Jenni to continue treatment and seek other options for the baby or to stop treatment and give birth to a possible healthy baby. Jenni chose to stop treatment for her baby the ultimate sacrifice a mother could do. I believe Jenni made the right choice seeing how the situation was and under the circumstances if I was in her shoes I…
