Speeding causes about one out of three fatal crashes . Speeding is also the number one violation in fatal vehicle crashes. Even though people say speeding is a threat to their safety when other drivers around them are speeding, most of them say they also speed while driving. There are many reasons why a person may speed, such as they are in a hurry, they are not paying attenection to driving, they don't take the traffic laws sesiuly or they don't think the laws of driving apply to them, they dont think how they are driving is danguores to them or anyone around them, or they think that they will not get caught. Speeding drivers are less likely to wear seat belts, and people that have been drinking alcohol are more likely to speed. Not wearing a seat belt, drinking alcohol and speeding can all add up to a deadly combination. Even though drivers say speeding is dangerous to their safety, more than half still speed. Speeding is a common driver behavior. Speeding can be a triple threat to anyones life, Speeding increases the chance of crashing, the amount of time to try to avoid a crash, you have less control over the vehicle and the severity of a crash once one happens. Speeding also reduces a driver’s ability to steer or steer around things on the roadway, and around all types of corners. Somtimes people can never really tell how fast your going so when your speeding, so there is a chance that other drivers or pedestrians will misjudge how fast you really are traveling. When your in a crash due to spedding, anybody in the crash will keep moving at the vehicle’s previous speed until they are stopped, either by hitting something or by being restrained by a seatbelt or airbag. Speeding is a choice which the driver has complete control in. Driving while either intoxicated or drunk is dangerous not only to your self but others around you. If you have been drinking and your driving are at highly increased risk of car accidents, and vehicular deaths. Almost every 90 seconds, a person is injured in a crash due to drunk driving. Every day, another 27 people die as a result of drunk driving. On average, one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash at one pint in their lifetime. While people think its "cool" or "ok" to text and drive, the average time of five seconds that your eyes are off the road you have a 23 times more likely chance to get into accident than a person who wasnt texting to began with. Those who are killed in a distracted driving related crash, weather you were driving or in the car with someone who was driving shows that 18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes are cased by cell phones. Headset cell phone use is not any safer than hand held use. Texting and driving can become a habit, but dont let your phone control you! Your the one who decieds to text or read a text message while driving. If you still think that you will text and drive put your cellphone somewhere where you cant reach it such as the trunk. Don't be tempted, but if you do have to make a phone call or text while driving, pull of the road carefully and stop. Wearing your seat belt is the most effective way to save lives and reduce injuries in crashes. Seat belts reduce serious crash injuries and deaths by about 50%. The most common reasons given by drivers for not wearing seat belts were that they forgot or they were just driving a short distance, which accdinets can happen at any place and at any time. Teens, like myself have the lowest seat belt use of any age group, and in 2011 it was reported that 58 percent of teen drivers that were killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt. 1.2 million people worldwide are thought to be killed each year on the roads and 50 million people worldwide are thought to be injured in road crashes each year. Although people may think that if they are in a car crash the seat belt may hurt them but the truth is, Properly worn seat belts seldom cause injuries. Seat belts do save lifes, so always buckle up no matter the distance. Teens drives are more likely to be involved in a crash than other drivers because, teens are more likely to underestimate hazardous or dangerous situations due to not enough driver experience, tend to drive more under high risk conditions, and are more likely to take risks while driving. Causes of teen crashes involving teen drivers include speeding, driving too fast, inexperience, distractions, and driving while drowsy or impaired. It is important that parnets know if a teenager is ready to be solo on the road because everyone is different and some are not ready by the time they turn 16. As a teenager and now another driver on the road you have to not only look out for yourself but the other people and objects around you. Always be prepared and look five seconds ahead of you and keep your eyes on the road. Keep enough distance from the cars infront of you just in case they come to a frequent stop, so you will have enough time to put on your brakes and to avoid hitting them. Always use your turn signals and look both ways before crossing an intersection or street. Knowing your car and the maintince of your car is also very important. You always want to check your car before leaving your drive way to see if there are any dings or hits. As soon as you see one it would be good to call your insurence so they can take care of things. Check your headlights, taillights, turn signals and brakes quit often. It's not safe to drive without any of them and you could also get pulled over due to one of them not working. Know how to check your oil and when to change it. Not changing your oil can be bad and can cause your moter to lock up on you. Know the sound of your car, if you can tell the sound of your car is off or you can tell something is different about your car, call someone immdently so it can be looked at before you wait to long. Always do the speed limit, dont drink and drive, dont text and drive, always wear a seat belt, and know your car. Nothing is worth taking your life or someone elses life due to something that can be prevented.
