Singing along enhances breathing and vocal ability, improves articulation and prosody of speech, and increases verbal and nonverbal communicative behaviours (Tomaino, 2012).
Speech therapy is advanced in music through melodic intonation therapy (MIT) (Tomaino, 2012). MIT had been studied broadly in the presence of neuroimaging (Tomaino, 2012).
The individual’s cognitive ability degrades the performance in producing speech – poor attention, depression – emotional stability, poor motivation, deficits in motor timing (inability to tap to rhythm) and cognitive slowing (Tomaino, 2012).
Active involvement is necessary for the recovery and enhancement of the autistic individual’s communicative skills (Tomaino, 2012).
Method – therapist is seated facing the patient to provide a proper facial cues when needed (Tomaino, 2012) which indirectly enhances the children cognitive
