Sophomore Challenges
It is difficult to respond to this prompt, as the hardest challenge I have faced is a topic I do not discuss lightly. Although, it is an occurrence that I would rather forget, it has severely impacted my life. During my Sophomore year, my family was at its worst point. My parents marriage had become abusive both mentally and physically. Their arguing was constant through months on by and my terrible environment at home began to reflect in my grades. I have always been a problem solver, so I felt useless when I could not fix this difficult situation. I found it very hard to focus on schoolwork, and I struggled to follow my educational plans for the future. Although, this situation overall was very traumatic I knew I had to be diligent and most

My most difficult experience in life was in high school, or in fact high school it self was a difficult experience for me. When I look back to the past I think that people and learning environment was one of the reasons that made my high school learning experience a negative one. Everyone who wasn't with me treated me against me. People thought that being different is a problem but in reality I think being different is what really make us stand out. I have never cared about what people say about me, and most importantly I have never fought them back. Furthermore, some of them started to understand and personally apologized. They realized that they talked nonsenses about a definition of someone's personality that they never understood.…

It was a hard thing to go through and witness as a young child.I never talked about the situation to anyone I overcame it on my own because i am a strong minded individual and all these years i kept it together. I always wanted to challenge myself, and for some reason I thought joining the United States Marines Corps would do that. I definitely got way more than I bargained for, and immediately regretted the decision I had made. My recruiter had a major influence on helping make the choice to join the Marines, and I will always feel some sort of resentment towards him. But while we go through these challenges, it is important to realize that they are what help define us as human beings. The hardest challenge that I have endured so far in my life was the three months I spent on Paris island, SC. The torture that takes place at Paris Island affected me not only physically, but mentally as well. With each month that passes during the three-month time…

According to Michelle Akers, “I think the challenge is, to take difficult and painful times and turn them into something beneficial, something that makes you grow.” Just like every human being, I have had my fair share of challenges to face. My parents were born and raised in Mexico. Being from the type of family both my parents had, education was not an option and no importance was taken toward it. They both dropped out of high school and began to work in factories to help their families with financial problems. They realized how hard it was to earn a living and to maintain a family without a proper education. When I was four years old and my sister was nine, my parents made the decision to send us to Brownsville, TX for a proper American education.…

One of the hardest experiences for me was having two shoulder surgeries in high school. Although it may not sound very traumatizing now, two surgeries meant that my cheerleading career of 14 years was over. When something that was such a big part of your life for so long is taken away in the blink of an eye, it feels like your whole world is crashing down! My senior year was exceptionally hard for me considering I was trying to make the perfect decision on my future college, my father was traveling 2 hours for work each week, and I was trying to recover from a right and left shoulder surgery. Everyone in life will have their own personal obstacles they will have to face in life. Some people will mentally shut down and give up when faced with a challenge. Others will take their challenges and use them to better themselves. The obstacles that I have faced in my life have never hit me harder than they have these past few months. This being my senior year, I always expected it to be the most laid back and relaxing year of my high school career. When in fact I set myself up for one of the biggest challenges of my life so far, by signing up for multiple online college classes, helping out with activities all over the school, and playing football for the first time since freshman year. Although, under all this immense pressure, this is where my true colors came out. I didn’t stop working to my full potential,…

I was failing eighth-grade math. My last two test scores were devastating and were helping to ruin my math grade. The tests were difficult, but definitely passable. Most times I would think that I knew the material, only to miss half of the questions on the big test. I was also skipping homework assignments. I didn't know the answers, and I wouldn't even try to learn. Even when I studied for hours, I would still fail the work and have the terrible feeling of truly being lost on how to recover. Although grade was downright horrible, and it was going to drop even more, I soon found an unlikely candidate that would turn my school life around.…
