Sophia Monologue
Sophia I looked at her. Her face was gleaming. The lake was gleaming back. Thin ripples encircled the border of her plump cheeks, pulsating from the reflection of her nose. My sweet Sophia, the thick rays of technicolour sunlight burnt an expression of complete awe across her face. I knew she loved the sunset. I knew she loved the sound of solemn birds, slurring their songs across the water. I knew she loved roses and emeralds and the colour of the sky right before it rained.
All of nature sings for Sophia. The swans squawk in fury of her encapsulating charm. The most fearsome beast would cower at the flicker of her eyes, the crumpling of her nose, or the pursing of her lips. Even the bravest warrior would drop his swords in the middle of

Okay dad lets go, I’m ready.” Her voice echoed from the lavatory. I could hear her footsteps becoming louder and louder as she began to make her descent. I turned to rest against the railing, and it was at that moment that I caught a glimpse of my darling in red. A tidal wave washed over my heart, and I was lying on the sand letting it take me to sea. The vacuum of my soul sucked in every last detail of the picturesque mademoiselle trailing down my stairwell. She had traded her worn out chucks for a pair of pointed suede flats, and her hand-me-down slacks for a crimson lace dress. She had stolen my breath, and had no desire to return it.
“Have you got a jacket? It’s starting to sprinkle outside, and I don’t want you catching a cold.” These words set off a trigger in her head, making her eyes roll. She assured me she was immune to the cold, but when the door swung open I could see the hairs begin to stand up on her arms.
“Wait one second.” She whispered, as she scurried past me and back down the hall. She emerged minutes later, now with a grey overcoat covering the red fabric. She pulled the collar over her head as she dodged the bullets of water firing down from the

The door closed and I watched as my sweet Sophia waltzed up the path towards the house that belonged to him. I sat in my stakeout until I was certain that my vision in red was safely inside.

*dong … dong … dong* the hands had turned and were now pointing to 12, my Sophia was late. She had broken our sacred agreement, rubbed it in the dirt and spat on it. The whereabouts of my lady in lace was unknown; she could be miles from home or just around the corner.
The stiff hands of the grandfather clock began to mock me. With each raw clunk of gears at each new minute, the circumstances worsened in my woeful mind. Where was Sophia? Stranded in the rusted corners of a train yard bruised and bleeding, or sinking to the bottom of a dam with every morsel of her beauty seeping from her skin? The cruel, cruel night had stolen away my daughter, ripped her out of my loving embrace, taking from me the light in my heart. I had never felt such loneliness since -
There was a knock at the door followed by many more. I toppled from my seat, then proceeded to storm down the hallway. My heart ran at such a pace that beads of sweat began to trickle down my neck. My hands gripped the doorknob, and when I dared to pull, I was met by a familiar

Rumbling and screeching roused Luna from her slumber. Turning toward the window that overlooked the city of Canterlot, she removed her sleep mask. Inside the cottage, Maggie sat at the table. The cigarette still hung loosely from her fingers. Her skin had browned and grown tight around her bones as it dried with age. Her head had shrunk considerably, the empty sockets of her eyes receding deep within. Maggie’s stomach, where the Coroner had crudely sewn her back together, had pulled apart at the stiches leaving gaping diagonal crevices. The wedding dress they buried her in was wrinkled. Her hair, while wiry, laid neatly groomed. Sam, having taken her brush from the bathroom, had done it before…

The dress that she had was surprisingly light, freeing her movements. At the bottom of the path was a massive structure, with three enormous gateways, at the center was a fountain. My lungs became a still sea, without a hint of a breeze. My mouth morphed into a dry, barren dessert. My heart began drenching my blooding with adrenaline. Yet, I took further irrevocable steps towards the door, as if an omnipotent force controlled my body like a puppet. Ferociously greeting me was quaint doll, adorned with a Victorian gown, sitting across a table of what seemed to be a small playroom.…

TODAY WAS NOT a normal day for walking home. The clouds that shined over the town made me slightly put off by the idea of Santa Rosa for a corn dog. Not like they had good corn dogs, but I was hungry and carried a heavy pocket full of sunshine. I guess I was meant to stop at a random road today, because as I stood staring up at the clouds (and finally knowing what Louis was doing all that time when she was daydreaming), I wasn't the only one who ditched school. There was another figure that came from the same direction that I had come from, stomping her way down the street and holding a look that was deadly, carrying a knapsack too big for her arms.…
